Really looking forward to the BTCC season starting next week. Used to watch it religously years ago but fell away from it for a while, started getting back into it from the middle of last season and it always provides some great racing. The fact that ITV show 6 hours worth on race day with all the support races makes it an excellent day on the couch. Planning on going to Knockhill this year as well.

Shocking crash at the Nurburgring Nordschleife in a VLN Endurance race where a Nissan GTR Nismo driven by British driver Jann Mardenborough flipped and crashed through the safety fence and killed one spectator and injured several others. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/motorsport/32100886

There's a couple of videos on YouTube and it's a nasty looking crash. Jann comes over a crest into a section called the 'Flugplatz', as the car came over the crest the front lifts up and the it flips in a straight line.....a lot like Webber's and Dunbreck's crash in Lemans back in 99. The car clears the fencing and lands in between the main catch fence and another smaller fence.

Horrible crash with sadly a tragic outcome.

I do believe the Flugplatz was where Manfred Winklehock flipped his F2 car in 1980 at the top of the crest and ended up in the catch fencing after rolling a few times, but completely unhurt.

Indycar season just starting on ESPN....The cars are looking even weirder than usual!!

Watched the race last night, the cars look strange but I like the fact that there's a noticeable difference between the Honda's and Chevy's. The race it's self was seriously affected by full course cautions caused by the new aero packages....in fact it got so bad it overran into the Basketball.

The race also gave me a rather annoying earworm this morning also

The cautions were driving me nuts I went to bed half way through!! Need to catch up with the rest and then Nascar.

Horrible set of circumstances...tragic to lose anyone in a sport but such a young age, hard to get the head around.

Tomorrow evening will be first set of races from this years North West 200, live coverage of the race can be found on the BBC website (this link takes to the main Bikes section, link to live coverage should be found there), race should be starting around 17:15 I think......the great Irish weather allowing of course.

Anyone off to the Isle of Man this year? I can't make it but have sponsored a couple of teams. Mark Saunders/Marc Maier (sidecar) and Colin Stephenson (Supersport/Superbike). Hope everyone has an enjoyable and safe fortnight.

Yep I'm going back over again this year with my brothers for a week. Will arrive on the Isle on Mad Sunday so missing the first race day but will get the rest of the race week and also the post TT race's in Castletown so fingers crossed the weather is good.

Should be a good one this year, I'm planning to do a small preview here but waiting till practice weeks begin to see whose doing what, too many to mention.
