Clyde demonstrated how to move the ball and the difference in midfield quality was obvious. Offers more protection than McKee. Therefore we missed him. We let Clyde roam the middle of the park with f**k all pressing. BallochSonsFan Posted September 28, 2019 Share Posted September 28, 2019 We did miss Hutton today. We had nobody breaking up the Clyde midfielders being able to press us at will in the 2nd half. McGeever stays on and we keep Carswell in midfield and there's another player who will close people down in the middle of the park and do the grafting. Without either in midfield, particularly later in the game, we lost any ability we might otherwise have had to pressure Clyde and try to disrupt their midfield possession. Hutton gets a raw deal at times. Fans notice when he has a poor game. A lot of his better games go unnoticed because he does the kind of job that doesnt attract attention. Make tackles. Close people down. Win the ball. Short pass to a more skilful teammate who will hopefully do something with it. You notice Hutton when he's not doing that because opponents can overrun our midfield and get at our defence too easily. You miss him when he's not doing it because when he's playing well he can give our back line a bit of protection and prevent much of what happened in the 2nd half today. He'll rarely get credit for what he does because its an ugly and thankless job but I'm pleased that when he's done it particularly well he's been voted man of the match. Every team needs a player like Hutton playing well, although his form has been patchy over his Sons career. He's just as much a difference maker as a playmaker who does the more eye pleasing stuff (if ever anything we do can be deemed to be eye pleasing). 4 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The midfielder has signed for the League One outfit on a short-term deal after recovering from an injury sustained towards the end of the 2018/19 season. The 21-year-old has previously enjoyed loan spells with Livingston and Queen of the South. Under the terms of the deal, Adam will be able to play for Andy Millen’s Reserve team against Morton today. Everyone at the club wishes Adam well during his time with the Sons. Friz will do you guys a job...... That aside that's probably about right though. I'd be interested to see Frizzell in behind Layne too - that's an area where we've struggled. I thought he was really underrated in his stint with us and it’s not a surprise to me that he’s made it back to the championship. I thought Cawley was fairly pish for us but he's been massively successful at Alloa so fair play to him.
