We're going to be fighting with clyde, Airdrie, alloa etc etc. Needless to say the quality of our players will go down, not to mention these other teams will no doubt be able to offer more than us. So far this season with three home games left our league average attendance now stands at 847 and if you throw in all cup games it comes to 748 Thus with 22 home games played our total attendance is under 16500 The last time we were relegated was 2005/06 from division two to division three when our average home gate was 946 The lowest ever average attendancewas 1998/99 when only 390 turned up per game.The best ever average was 1972/73 when it was 5772. In 1953/54 when we were relegated to Division C our gate was still a healthy 2633 average and when we came back up in 1955/56 was a remarkable 3917. In the season we finished 3rd in Division 2 under Brian Fairley, the average was 1039. Our best season in recent times was 1130 last season. Our last three seasons in Div 2 (League 1) all averaged fewer than 700 but the travelling support in those years would be nowhere near Championship level. Our priority next season should be to stay up (no matter which division we're in.) Realistically Sam Wardrop (and Andy Stirling I suppose, although he’s a different case) is the only loan player we’ll miss. squeezeboxson Posted April 7, 2018 Share Posted April 7, 2018 Yeah, we have most importantly today stopped the rot that has been happening the last fortnight. We have looked completely depleted and everyone knows how far back our league "goal drought" goes. The most important thing was to start scoring again and pick up some confidence boosting results to put us in the best possible position going into what will be a tough game, regardless of who it is against. If we somehow win our next 2 and Falkirk lose theirs, this time next week we can be talking about the great escape and I'll happily join in.
