January Transfers

He's signed for them already on a pre-contract. Saints won't just give him away today though, it'll need to be a pretty attractive offer for us. Not sure if we owe Falkirk a percentage of any fee too.

Proof in the pudding I think. Not going to get too excited until I see if they first of all manage to just get a game! A few weeks ago thought we needed to be cautious not to just sign players for the sake of it as we did last January but we need the depth now having lost Beattie and Pawlett and with Robertson and Adams out of the season and several others missing for a few weeks.

Wonder if these signings might allow Caddis back out on loan himself? Wasn't surprised that Lomas didn't use any of our U20s last night as it would have weakened his hand with regards to signings today.

Fair comment, but even taking into account previous loan failures, I think all were to a view to permanently signing them rather than helping their development. Abeid has played in the Europa league this season for Newcastle for example, and all three loan players from the premiership have at least 2 and a half years to run on their existing contracts. I'm far more encouraged about these guys than I was about Oyenuga and Keatings.

All of this is true. And Sproule's quicker than most players he'll be up against, to be fair. I think Carey's a decent player, from the little I've seen. I just remain to be convinced he's a left back.

Plenty of our supporters agree with you on that, but I'm happy to go on recent form. He has largely been disappointing since signing on for us following his loan from Celtic, but when he has impressed me, he has been playing at left back.

The lad needs to buckle down and find some consistency. That said, he can only do that if he is afforded the opportunity to play regularly. I suspect he is the kind of player who thrives on competitive games as opposed to the routine of training. I'm not sugesting that is necessarily a good thing, but if he continues to do the business for us, I'm not unduly concerned either way.

Aye, but I'm not convinced that Carey is played out of position at LB. He has played some of his best matches for us in that position. The problem is more to do with his form, physical (and, possibly, mental) shape, and the fact that he hasn't been given a decent run in the team. Many players can switch between left-mid, left wing-back, and left full back without any real difficulty.

One of Carey's strengths is his crossing from deep positions. This can be more readily utilised when he plays at LB.

Have those best matches been when he hasn't had a specialist winger played against him? ICT and arguably Celtic didn't.

I'm not entirely sure what constitutes a 'specialist winger', to be honest. I've already offered the view that he struggled against Sproule because he was far too exposed. Against Celtic and ICT, he had Isma in front of him, and the general shape of the team was much better. The game against County was an abberation on all counts. It wasn't all about Sproule.

not many teams have a specialist winger though. And we have come up against Sproule before abd he hasnt done that to us so its possibly the case that Carry was shite/left exposed agaunst a player who hit a bit of form. This can happen and knowing what Sproule can be like this may. Not necessarily happen next time. In any case Carey has pulled his game together after that particular debacle which is a good sign as far as im concerned. But he wont keep his place if he has another game like that all the same. And i dont see him getting in the side anywhere else if we have no injuries or suspensions

The news about the 2 possible signings is astounding...the club have actually released some information to the fans. It's also actually quite positive which is probably the most surprising thing about it. However I'm sure as soon as one of the Brown's read it they'll release another depressing statement to get back to normal.

only 200k for McLean apparently. Far too low, i would be holding these clubs to ransom over him and Gowser

 Hopefully their verbal offer met with a suitable verbal response.

Do any Dundee fans know the current position on Jamie McCluskey, and can he play on the right wing?

Yes, but he's a potential first teamer and been injured all season.

The Serbian full back we've apparently signed is called Branislav Micic from FC Sion according to a guy on OTB. Still need another striker though I think :(

Ross Tokely's been released?! Bit surprising.
