SodjesSixteenIncher
Hopefully going to Hertha v Leverkusen and Union Berlin v Bochum next week. The former looks easy to sort tickets for, not so sure about getting tickets for Union. Anyone with any experience? German Jag
Hopefully going to Hertha v Leverkusen and Union Berlin v Bochum next week. The former looks easy to sort tickets for, not so sure about getting tickets for Union. Anyone with any experience? According to the Union Berlin website, tickets are still available. On the phone just now, will check later for you.

German Jag
The tickets are with my mates supporters club over in Germany but I'm sure he could ship them over for me. Had no idea football fans get free rail travel. Sounds fairly straightforward, cheers for the advice mate. Was at the Schalke v. H96 game yesterday. Having a match day ticket entitles you to free travel (2nd class / local trains, trams, buses) within the VRR area (basically Dortmund / Düsseldorf / Mönchengladbach and everything in between. Cologne is just outside this area though). Plenty of trams (no. 302) from Gelsenkirchen main station upto the stadium before & after the game. Unless you've a prior reason for staying in Gelsenkirchen, would suggest to cancel the hotel there and stay in the likes of Düsseldorf. Gelsenkirchen is one of the dreariest sh!tholes I've seen in Germany.
wellboy1991
How longs the travel from D'Dorf to Gelsenkirken? I'm dying to take in a Schalke game. Stayed in D'Dorf before and wouldn't mind going back.

Fudge
Going back to Dusseldorf in September, Friday to Monday. Flights and 3 star hotel beside the station were £200 in total. I hope Duisburg are at home although I'd be tempted to make another ludicrous cross country journey for an away games as Rostock away last time was brilliant.

I'm in Dusseldorf on the Friday night but the reason I'm staying in Gelsenkirchen on the Saturday is I've been informed about 'the Party Zone'.

If you really have to stay in G'ken, Bochum has a better nightlife and it's not too far away at all.
German Jag
For anyone looking to travel over after Easter for a game, the exact times and dates have now been set for all remaining fixtures in both the BL & BL2.
N5 Spur
Should you choose to take in a Hertha Bundesliga game at the Olympia Stadion, don't be put off by the following: Berlin's Olympic Stadium is served by both S-Bahn (overground) and U-Bahn (underground) trains: Olympiastadion (S-Bahn) Olympia-Stadion (U-Bahn) BVG, who manage Berlin's transport infrastructure couldn't tell me why the naming protocols are different.

Theroadlesstravelled
I’ve been put off getting a train in Germany since all that hullabaloo in the 1940s.

Probably something to do with Uncle Bulgaria.
