Walking Down The Halbeath Road

I’d have said that too but Graham has absolutely strolled first half today. Not up against much tbf but can see why he’s getting game time.
We've played a bunch of jobbers today, I'd have fancied myself in a back 3.

5-1, leagues oors

Was very enjoyable today. Dumbarton were missing half their squad and it showed but really liked the desire to keep trying to score goals.

Let’s get some midfielders in this week and get this squad balanced out.

Reece Cole in the gym at east end today, good technical player who I think was highly rated at partick.

Takes a great set piece, but that’s about it. Seemed to float through games not really doing much and was part of the reason we were completely overrun in that shambles of a season.

Loved by some of our younger fans, who also idolised diddies like Miles Storey and shitebags like Blair Spittal for whatever reason.

Rhys Breen should be announced tomorrow. Think we are pretty sorted for centre halves but PG apparently a big fan and thinks he has lots of potential. Unsure about Kai Kennedy being announced tomorrow but he is coming as well.

Christ sake.

Do you think that will free up any of your current pool of defenders to move on? Were in desperate need

I think the fact we are going with a back 3 is probably why he wants additional cover.

Aye, if the plan is back 3 we do need another.

Comrie, Graham, vytas and Martin once he’s fit isn’t really enough to cover 3 positions especially when Martin and comrie might be playing wingback at times.

i could see another defender coming in but maybe someone who could double up as a left wing back and centre half to cover both, if Edwards gets injured you either lose the balance of the side or have to switch systems. would expect Breen will be competition with Graham on the left side of the  3.

If we’re sticking with this system, we probably need another centre half. MacDonald played well yesterday, but I still think I’d prefer to see Comrie at wing back and a more natural CB at CB. We need to have more cover in that position. Obviously we need more midfielders. If we’re sticking with the formation that includes 3 strikers, we need another one. But I’m not convinced we’ll get away with that system in a league game. More likely to play a front 2, with Thomas/Kennedy/Dow in behind them.

Regardless, I enjoyed yesterday. Was great to be back at East End. Players seemed to enjoy playing in front of fans as well. I know it was only (a depleted) Dumbarton and it will have no bearing on our season ahead, but I liked the way they put on a show and played some really entertaining football at times. Been a long time since we’ve seen Dunfermline play an entertaining/attractive brand of football and the players seemed to be enjoying the way we set up and it looked like there was a real positive team spirit. More of the same next week please, before the real football starts!

Isn’t that martins role?  We need him fit of course, but hopefully he’ll be ready within the next few weeks if he doesn’t get another set back.

Otherwise MacDonald is seemingly capable on both sides,  you can play him on the left and comrie on the right.
