Walking Down The Halbeath Road

I really liked Steven Bell. Faither and I often say he could have been a top, top player had things not turned out the way they did.

As for present day Pars, what a great win last night. Yer man Nesbit is on fire, Cammy Gill kept a clean sheet and the Pars have a real chance to move up to 3rd on Saturday.

More than happy for this to continue and would love nothing more than Crawford to make me look like an absolute c**t for ever doubting him.

Big fan of the Stevie Bell love in. Obviously never knew him as a great midfielder but he’s managed to come back and do well as a solid centre back for us. Absolutely no chance we would’ve beaten Raith to the title without him signing in January.

IIRC, he had a really slow start with us and wasn’t well liked by many fans at first. By 2009/10 and then into our title winning season he was outstanding, got a horrible injury at Cappielow before Christmas though.

He must really hurt thinking about where his career could have gone if it wasn’t for that injury, I’m sure a move to an SPL side would have been on the cards by the end of 2010/11, if not in the January window.

@Grant228 already mentioned him playing at right midfield and he's right- Bell was stinking the place out playing there. As soon as he moved back into his natural central role he was fantastic, better than his Stirling days where he shone before.

Bells goal against Dundee in a blizzard was amazing.

Willie Gibson put in one of the best wing performances I've ever seen at East end that night too. The Dundee right back Eric Paton was subbed at half time.

Gibson was capable of roasting any full back in the division back then. Man was a joy to watch at his best.

Is Gibson our highest selling player this decade? When he was on song he was incredible, I missed that Dundee game because I didn't know it was on and I'm still not sure how.

Was on the way back from the girlfriends (19a) seen the floodlights on and had no idea, quick Google and I was fucking gutted. By the highlights, and all accounts I missed a great game.

Where did he go? Celtic Nation or some weird named team?

Crawley Town. Made his debut for them in an FA Cup tie at Old Trafford that was shown live on ITV, IIRC.

That Dundee performance was about as good an individual showing I've ever seen from someone wearing a Pars shirt. I think he played on the left for some reason and Dundee went through about three right backs trying to contain him to no effect.

He was at Celtic Nation a couple of seasons ago, they were trying to do a Gretna and buy the Northern League title. They failed, punted all their top players the following season and went bust at the end of that season after an 8-0 rinsing by Marske United. A scenario which absolutely nobody could have foreseen...

He was at Celtic Nation in 2013-14! Since then he's been at Stranraer, Dumbarton, Stranraer again, Peterhead, Stenhousemuir and is now manger of our Reserves. Celtic Nation went under in 2015.

Much did we get for him £150k?

Only other players we've received fees for (iirc) would be Longridge and Crossan. Neither would have been as much as that, doubt even close.

It was reported to be around 200 to 250k as far as I remember. Didn't we get around 60-100k for Longridge? Not sure what the reported fee for Crossan was, although I think there are sell-on fees?

He recently left Stenhousemuir citing "work commitments". We played in central midfield and while he was quite good in there, I always felt we were right to expect more from him.

Always had £150k in my head for Gibson. Could be wrong though. No idea on Longridge, but would £60-100k sounds likely.

Would have got very little for Crossan. No chance of any sell-on fees in that one, since he got released by Celtic 6 months ago!
