Walking Down The Halbeath Road

Aye, our fanbase like a statement from the board - to explain why what they wanted to happen hasn't happened.

Then when they get a statement, they like to complain about the statement.  It's all part of being a Pars fan.

Having said that, the criticism was fair after their car crash of a correspondence following our first visit to Dumfries last year.  However, it has been markedly better since Cook took charge.

Haha, I'd forgotten all about the statement after that game! A brilliant piece of nonsense and a classic 'what not to do' example. They cried about the offside decision for our disallowed goal whilst the Pars TV highlights clearly showed it as the correct call after running multiple slow motion replays and flashing up 'Offside' on screen.

Craigen away to Edinburgh. That’s one I would have welcomed back, but probably wants to stay part-time. That’s another factor holding us back in this league is players that are good enough not willing to go full-time.

Not saying we should be desperate and panic buy, but would rather see us make a couple of “ok” signings for cover now as our squad is extremely thin.

Really good day for us today.

Airdrie and Falkirk losing games the were expected to win and us beating one of the other promotion hopefulls.

If we can get another 3-4 loans in by the end of September we will be strong contenders for the title. Never thought that would be the case at the start of the season.

We can make a maximum of 3, tho there may be a free agent or 2 available

It’s just a case of putting points on the board and building momentum.  We’re doing that well currently,  another 3 games we’ll have played the first round of fixtures and being top at that stage would be a good marker but still nothing over the grand scheme of things.

keep ticking over, keep grinding out results and see where that takes us.

Fair play to Breen and Mehmet. Would imagine most fans would have been happy/indifferent to see them leave in the summer but can't ask for any more from them so far. Let's hope they can keep it up.

Still feel Bene is the key man though. His leadership and experience have helped foster a far more resilient and organised back line.

Benedictus has been some signing. Breen and Mehmet have totally turned it around. Could argue Breen has been our best player so far. He should have a good few more goals to his name. Big threat from set pieces.

Yup, missed a sitter at Kelty and then had that last-gasp winner outrageously ruled out vs Airdrie.

Having been forced to watch Efe Ambrose fanny about doing tricks in his 6 yard box last season and then have a solid centre back like Bene come in you can see why things went so badly wrong last season.

The difference between those two players basically refects the difference in their respective managers.

Yogi cared more about his team completing 700 passes a match to no effect, so that his pals in the media could massage his ego by commenting on the good football Yogi's teams play.

McPake is more interested in winning football matches and not what outsiders think about our style. It's about his team not about him, unlike Yogi.

That doesn't fully stack up. Yogi also signed Donaldson, who was pretty much a no-nonsense centre back too.

McPake is doing really well, and Benedictus and Hamilton are great additions, but he was dealt a squad with Comrie, Breen, Edwards and MacDonald - all of whom should be able to excel at the level we're at.

I was always pretty confident that he'd have us pretty well drilled defensively. The issue was always going to be scoring goals rather than keeping them out.

Also, yet to see how we respond to losing the opening goal in a game. That will be a test when it happens.

Notice James Craigen has left Arbroath on a free. Not expecting him to drop down a division but his versatility would be exactly what we need imo.

Tbh players that are that age and established as part time it would be hard to entice them back to full time without serious cash
