No you wouldn’t.

Honestly think if you kept Wighton (wasn’t great at us tbf but an option) and didn’t sign Efe fuvkin Ambrose and Joe Chalmers you’d have stayed up

Good players in that squad you had just terribly managed

List should have been bigger, but the rest are under contract so will understandably be difficult to move on.

Need a fresh statement from the board.

“We note with interest and sadness that Messrs Dorrans, Chalmers et al performed to a standard unbecoming of such a prestigious club last season. The new manager thinks they are gash too. We will update you on this matter in due course.”

Tbh I think they’re both worth a punt for anyone in the lower Championship/top half of League One. Lawless thinks he’s better than he is and Dow hasn’t been the same post injury as others have said. Both have previously had the ability to influence games with direct wing play. Like the vast majority of our squad, however, had very little to offer us last season.

You should write the statements for the club.

I can already tell that in 18 months I’ll have to check Wikipedia to confirm that Reece Cole and Leon Jones were actually Pars players at one point.

Am I right that list covers every player not currently under contract?

Mcpake rightly stated he'd speak to the out of contract players first,   the under contract players will be a much bigger challenge to move on.

On the guys going 4 deserve comment IMO

thomas, wasn't respected under grant or hughes,  moving on seems the right move for him and he was always going to have championship options

Donaldson, i felt resigned to losing him as he's too good for league 1,  however losing him to another league 1 club is gutting.

Pybus, much better than expected but given the utter shitebags he had to play with his assets were more called upon to make up for those he played alongside more than his weaknesses were shown up.

Biggest one is martin,  it's a sad sad day to see him leave, one of us who has come through the shit and stuck around, He leaves with my absolute best wishes.

On the announcement,   I've seen quite a few clubs act much better,  the way we've done it is so incredibly lazy,  just like all our online output.  Someone really needs to knock some heads together and start treating this properly and not some shit to quickly post at the end of the day.

I think Martin will pop up elsewhere and be a cracking signing for somebody if given a proper run.

I think we might live to regret that one.

I would've kept Pybus and tried to sign Donaldson. Would also tried keeping Thomas if there was a chance.

There rest I'm easy about leaving.

I don't necessarily disagree with Martin leaving the club - he's made seven appearances over the past two years - but he deserves more than being a random name on a list.

Just the latest in a growing number of moments that make you shake your head.

What are folk expecting here? Full page obituary type articles for each player leaving? What is the issue with saying a load of players have been released? What is it other clubs do exactly?

Queen of the South listed players leaving: https://www.qosfc.com/news-5763

And Queen's Park: https://queensparkfc.co.uk/22-23-squad-update/

Livingston: https://livingstonfc.co.uk/squad-update-2/

Kilmarnock: https://kilmarnockfc.co.uk/news/first-team-squad-update-following-2021-22-season/

Airdrie: https://www.airdriefc.com/2122-news/220527/squad-movements

And so on.

Martin was never going to get a special announcement. Was just never going to happen after that shit season. Think they are just wanting to try and get rid of as much of that team as possible and try and move on. Complete reset, in Cook’s words, which I’m content with. Hopefully we can move a lot of contracted players on one way or another.

You're in for a shock, because McPake thinks the sun shines out of Dorrans' arse. Repeatedly said he's the most talented player he ever played with and is best mates with him. If there's a captaincy availability, he'll be getting it (if he's not already).

When folk were taking about Mark Connolly being out best defender last autumn we were doomed. Made me long for the return of Kerr Young.

Mehmet

Comrie**
MacDonald*
Breen*
Edwards**
Todd**

Chalmers
Dorrans*
Allan*

O’Hara**
Wighton**
McCann**
Todorov**

** players I’d be happy with regularly starting

* players who are acceptable squad players for league one

Going by that. We’re needing a goalkeeper, at least 2 competent centre-halves, at least 3 central midfielders and at least 2 wingers, before I’d say we have an acceptable squad. Obviously having all 4 strikers regularly starting isn’t quite possible/logical so we’ll see how McPake deals with that.

Dorrans might be okay for League One and Allan still needs to prove himself at senior level IMO. The most important signings we’ll make this summer will be the midfielders.

Of those who are signed up for next season, Mehmet and Chalmers are the only ones I seriously don’t want to see playing another minute for us. I’m not Dorrans’ biggest fan in the slightest, but he might do a job filling in every now and then.

12 players have just departed, so financially it shouldn’t be unreasonable to expect around 10 first team players coming in, including loans of course.

Already looking forward to an array of jobbers being queued up behind McPake in the middle of EEP, each jobber with one hand on the shoulder of the preceding jobber, a la Lee Clark/Kilmarnock 2016.

Aye he was already captain. Hopefully Dorrans will be good enough for League 1.
