Walking Down The Halbeath Road

Recommended Posts

Listened to Sportsound podcast from yesterday, all about how poor the players have been etc and not one mention that Hughes has literally done exactly what he did at the Rovers.  He's still untouchable within the media.

We’d have needed a lot more than just Paul Paton (who, being completely honest, doesn’t even provide much quality these days) to help us this season, but we really could have done with his presence in midfield. Instead we’ve had to watch gutless shitebags stinking the place out for a full season.

I've seen folk claim we're 'bigger' than St Johnstone. Literally there are zero metrics we are. They have won more trophies. They have played in Europe far more than us. They have played in the top league more than us and won more points there than us. They get bigger crowds than us. Unless the metric is 'were good 54 years ago' then we aren't close to them, and it's mad that folk thought we were 'bigger' because we used to get a few more fans than they did.

Also, I bet Livingston are devastated that we're 'bigger' than them whilst they play yet another season in the top league.

Remember being suitably raging with this in the summer

Saints fans took some offence to this without actually reading the article. Shields’ point was that Dunfermline should be aspiring to achieve much more than we have done in the last decade. He compared the two clubs and their recent achievements (or lack of), saying words to the effect of “clubs like St Johnstone are a similar size, if not smaller, than us and they’re achieving a lot more, what’s stopping us from doing that?” Which I think is an entirely fair point to make, but instead we all got dragged into some dick measuring competition about crowds and trophies etc.

In fairness he does say in the article he thinks Dunfermline are bigger, but aye, headline is a bit misleading and he does actually make some extremely valid points. Far too much is made of crowd sizes in this country I feel

Aye definitely. IIRC the whole point of the interview was that we should be achieving more, saying that we’re probably a bigger club than Saints was just something he mentioned in the middle of the conversation. The journalist who wrote it knew where the talking point was though.

The mad conspiracy theories are out again!

Apparently the German investors want to sell EEP and trouser the cash, and will be building a small ground in Rosyth to replace it.

Seemingly they've orchestrated relegation and purposely hired Grant and Hughes for this because they knew both were pish and would take us down.

You wonder where such morons get such utter bullshit from. Is it for attention that they make these things up, or do they genuinely believe such pish?

Exactly this. Nothing in any mainstream media about how Hughes is to blame. It's literally a carbon copy of what he did to us and he's getting let off again.

No doubt if he leaves you this summer his media pals will still be touting him for any Premiership job that becomes available.

Listening to his post match interview it's like a Greatest Hits of his pish patter.

Bairn's v Pars is 100 times the derby that Raith v Cowsebeath is (or is it East Fife?) you're just jealous of the glitteratti that attends the swaree like an Oscars night on cocaine (more cocaine).

mind you, I still hanker for the days when the Falkirk derby was against Airdrie.

That’s the plot of Ted Lasso. Though in that case the random American who knows nothing about football turns out to be a better manager than Grant or Hughes.

ETA, should have had a spoiler warning there, sorry.
