DA Baracus
Saw this utter dogshit on the other Pars forum. Just utter pish. Our support isn't close to the Dundee clubs in terms of potential. It isn't far in excess of Motherwell, St Mirren or St Johnstone. In fact, it lags behind all of those clubs. We can maybe match Kilmarnock when we have an individual, specific game, but don't come close to their regular support. I've seen folk claim we're 'bigger' than St Johnstone. Literally there are zero metrics we are. They have won more trophies. They have played in Europe far more than us. They have played in the top league more than us and won more points there than us. They get bigger crowds than us. Unless the metric is 'were good 54 years ago' then we aren't close to them, and it's mad that folk thought we were 'bigger' because we used to get a few more fans than they did. Also, I bet Livingston are devastated that we're 'bigger' than them whilst they play yet another season in the top league. vikingTON
Dunfermline still have a relatively large following given their catchment area, but like pretty much all clubs in that position, it's a legacy of *not being dogshit* for a long enough period in the recent past (mid-1990s to Masterson's financial meltdown, in Dunfermline's case). That legacy wears off over time though and unless next season is a waltz to the title, it is the classic point at which a club sloughs off a lot of fans without really noticing until they don't come back.

Pretty much spot on, Pars and Falkirk have bigger support than the rest of us Perma-diddies but that’s from being in the top league a few seasons in recent years. Spend long enough down here and both will drop to sub 2000 levels. Accies is the one that surprises me the most, everyone jokes about their support but it’s disappeared overnight since relegation. I’m not sure their revenue streams but they’ll surely be struggling to maintain F/T football on those crowds without other income.

Again, the ST sales of a club isn’t the sole factor in their finances/playing budget. Some clubs have fantastic sponsorship deals so can out bid clubs with more fans for players.

Stoo61
It's always at this time the still drunk folk are on. It's class. Doesn't mention that St Mirren fans, admittedly not all, in the 90s would march to the Glasgow giants on alternate weeks rather than travel to the Buddies away games around the country. The early adopters of the half n half scarf. Funny that. -
Scary Bear
It’s not all bad Pars fans. We’ve been there; League One isn’t nice. However, your old pals at Starks Park can help you. We’ve a lovely big chap just kicking his heels. Top scorer in League One, the captain at his previous club and a former Scottish international. Reluctantly, we’ll let him join you, to help an old friend out. Just give us a call.

Both teams seem to love showing us how out of touch with fans they are, this would be the icing on the cake.
