Walking Down The Halbeath Road

Recommended Posts

I notice PG's contract was never announced. Hopefully with the new people in the boardroom we've steered away from the 12 month rolling contract and also didn't offer anything silly like 2/3 years. He wants to win the league, he has been vocal about that. He should get until the end of the season to see if the objective is met but if not then it's time to move on. If we miss out by a point or two then you could see reason to offer another year but if we're out the running by Christmas then the situation will need to be addressed then.

Don't get me wrong, I really want it to work under PG, I like the way he talks and he's an enthusiastic and passionate guy.

Never mind the end of the season, if we put in another partick performance next week he needs to go then.

For me how he talks is part of the problem, seems to have decided that other people’s input is irrelevant, he knows best.

Was the comment not about how Peter Grant had maximised the performance of the players he had available to him with the restrictions of being part-time and the additional challenges that brought due to Covid too.

It was. Still a bizarre decision. He has time to sort it, but my gut feeling is we will still be all over the place and lingering in the bottom half by Christmas where he will be punted and replaced.

Pressure all goes on to next Friday night. First Fife derby with fans for a good while, televised game, two teams having had a bad start and now Raith have confirmed they will be without three key players in Vaughan, Spencer and Musonda. We need to go and win this game, simple as that.

Thank f**k Vaughan is out. He would have a field day with our pishy defence.

Big time. Well it's not confirmed yet but McGlynn said yesterday he was looking at 6 weeks out, although is seeing a specialist today. I don't know much about Spencer and Musonda but they seem to rate them so them missing is good.

Then surely we should've appointed Dick Campbell?

It makes absolutely no sense as an appointment, I was hoping our new owners had nothing to do with it.

Is Thomas Meggle not dealing with the football side of it more compared to the others? Think it was him that made the decision based on the style of football Alloa played, even though they lost constantly and took advantage of a crap plastic pitch whenever they did get a result (we pumped them there 4-1 remember)

Considering next month will be a year since they joined the board it was obvious they had as much to do with it as the rest of the board.

Considering they hadn't been in the country, or had a majority stake, I was hoping that it was another duff appointment from RM.

It's fantastic to hear that our new footballing overlords have the same knack as the previous board for making the wrong decisions when it comes to making the footballing decisions.

"Got the best out of what he had" 4 fucking wins before he played our reserve side on the last day of the season. Christ.

Not sure why people are getting sucked into this myth about how owners were impressed by how Peter Grant set up his Alloa side against us. The idea that anyone would appoint a manager based off one game is absurd on the face of it.

It’s not like there was an extensive recruitment process. He was cheap, available and known to the club through our links with Alloa.

Now, that doesn’t mean he can’t be a success at Dunfermline and help us achieve our goals but I’d still say there’s very little evidence to back that up other than blind faith.

Glad to see no one is overreacting

Putting your fingers in your ears and lapping up everything the owner says is soooooo Gavin Masterton.

It's nice that the owners speak reasonably well, however let's be honest here and say they've gotten off to a fairly inauspicious start. St Johnstone were playing Gallatasary last night in a European game, after winning the Cup double last season, having won the Scottish Cup a few seasons ago.

Now they've gotten there for a myriad of reasons, however a fucking massive one is that they appoint good managers, consistently. People thought when they lost Coyle they'd crumble! And since then it's just been one fantastic appointment after another.

Whereas we lurch from one shitter of appointment to another, the one time in the last decade we made an ok appointment we fucked that by keeping him past his sell by date.

So aye, news of a training ground and a club culture is just grand, however that won't count for a fucking thing if we follow the same process off appointing managers that led us to Peter Grant, whatever questions were getting asked were wrong, really, really, wrong.

AJ was a good appointment at the time, but it was clear that 2018 was as far as he was going and we should have parted ways. Just been riot since then and looks like it will continue to be, based on the first 2 league games, where the performances have been, urm, suspect at best.

What we all going for tonight then? I can't see past a 6+ goal thumping after last weeks performance. Stevie G will have his Rangers team out to make a statement and said he'll name a strong squad. I'd love to see a spirited performance from us, even if we were to lose, as long as we didn't just roll over but I can't see it.
