There’s things the club can do to improve attendances, and we should work on those, but we are talking about a few hundred fans. If you could have 2 or 3 sold out 8000 crowds a season our board would be absolutely delighted.  We’ve sold out east end twice in my entire life, Once for promotion decider and the other for a friendly.  You can maybe add a handful of times where we’ve been 8000+ in that time.

the horse has bolted and we should keep our current capacity barring minor adjustments(for example we’ve lost the enclosure in front of the main stand due to hospitality expansion)   but any idea of leishman era crowds(which were a blip in our history, including during the historic high of the 60s)  is complete fantasy.

St Johnstone have won 2 Scottish Cups, 1 League Cup, finished in top 6 multiple times and regularly competed in Europe and they *still* have trouble attracting new fans.

I don’t get why people think it will be any easier for us with a fraction of that success.

The reality is we're well supported within our game and so is the Scottish game in general well supported. Which is remarkable given the amount of distractions there are nowadays for people regarding other leisure pursuits available to them.

We'll see an increase in crowd numbers if we start to see success. The most important thing for our club is that we keep striving to succeed built on a long term strategy for sustained progress. Key elements in that are responsible financial management and development of a youth system, both things spoken about a lot recently. If we can get this right we might just emulate something like St Johnstone success, and crowds will increase.

AFAIK the top 10 attendances at rennovated EEP are all over 10,000.

All clubs are in the same boat as long as the old firm exist.  They only way to stop it is for lots of Celtic and Rangers fans to not have kids basically.  It sounds daft but boys in Dunfermline in their 20's and 30's who support Celtic or Rangers aren't going to bring their sons and daughters up to support the Pars.  Every town with an senior club in it is the same.

As far as I can tell although @Stellaboz might d better placed to say but the VAT on German sports tickets is 7% compared to our 20% obviously not the reason why our tickets are £20 and decent level of German football is under a tenner.

I've no idea about ticket prices in other parts of Germany but they're not that cheap around here. You might get a decent price on them if you're in the standing/ultra areas of some grounds but getting those tickets is almost impossible.

However, you can at least drink a beer (before, during and after) and get decent scram everywhere you go.

Also, regional train travel is included in the price of an away ticket which is pretty decent. You don't get on the quicker IC trains but in normal times you can at least enjoy a beer for an away day for a couple of hours without buying a train ticket.

Back in 2019 I got a ticket for St Pauli vs Bochum for €10. Higher level of football than this tbh but if you dropped ticket prices I'm sure you wouldnt see the required uptake to make it worth while. In this country, the prices are only going one way.

Prices genuinely won't make much difference. You could drop the prices down to £10, which is extremely generous, and you'd not get much uptake. Of course charging that isn't sustainable at all for the club, however. Scotland has a football-mad population, but the vast majority "support" either of the Old Firm and, in our case, we play close to the two Edinburgh teams, so you really are farting against thunder trying to get more fans.

Says he's played college soccer for 4 years. Didn't think they played that long over there with those things unless it works like a normal degree which is the 4 year mark?

He played a trial game for us v Kelty at start of this season, McCall didn’t offer a deal.  He played for Hearts and apparently was released from them due to Levein saying he was to small for a CB

Levein should have a chat with Ivan Cordoba, he may learn something.
