Walking Down The Halbeath Road

Think Nisbet will struggle. Only scores goals. Bit of a luxury player really, doesn’t create anything. Looked out his depth against a better defence (Queen of the South).

Our top goalscorer across all competitions last season scored 6 goals. The bar isn't high.

Sounds like Nicky Clark, who we badly missed last season. An old fashioned poacher, who is only really useful in/around the box will work in the right set up, but be fairly useless if the team doesn’t play to his strengths.

Given what other fans have said, sounds like he worked well in a partnership (presumably his partner did the dirty work?) but struggled up top on his own? Again, that’s fairly normal for a poacher/goalscorer. A lone striker role is best suited to a target man or a player who will happily bring the ball down and run at defenders, not a penalty box striker.

Had time to mull it over and actually quite sound with Ryan staying.

Same. I actually feel sorry for him, he had a shocker miss against Falkirk then hasn't played since, he hasn't got the chance to right the wrong. Him and Nesbit could be a tidy partnership.

Don't think Ryan will ever be a 15/20 goal a season player again sad as he was a good player over the years

Thanks for that, Pep Guardiola.

Dunfermline’s Tom Owen Evans.

There was allot to suggest that was a fairly awful signing. There's not allot to say about this signing at all, not allot is known but at least the manager has actually watched him a few times and he's been up training with the club. Most likely a reserve player who will be be blooded into the first team gradually rather than a mainstay.

As a striker those two statements don't go together very well.

Andy has not had the chance to get going at the Pars. He came in when we had an established forward partnership and was getting sub appearances, then he was injured and form has been hit as a result.

This is now a chance to start games. I'm happy to give him a chance. He has a point to prove and that's the type of player we are looking for.

You know fine well what it means. He won’t contribute much to you defensive or build up play but get the ball to him in the box and he’ll put it in the back of the next. He’s not the type to take the game by the scruff of the neck and win it single handedly, like Vaughan can. Play to his strengths and he will score goals and as a team that was winning the possession battle in most games and playing in oppositions half he got plenty of chances, might be a bit different for a Pars side battling against relegation. One black mark against him is despite all his goals he never got a hat trick. There wasn’t a game last season you could say he went on the rampage as such.

If you’re a striker who only scores goals then there’s a fair chance you’ll still have a more than decent career.

Absolutely, while in the early stages of his career at us all Shankland did was score goals, didn't contribute much outside that. As a striker being a natural goal scorer is absolutely the best trait you can have, as you get more experienced you might then start influencing a game more.

And this is a bad thing? Couldn't care less if he's not chasing the centre mids back, if he's picking up good positions in the box and putting away chances that's exactly what we need.
