Not just the end. The entire show had the subplot running through it - every backstage segment left you aware that something was going on and you didn't know what. It was also uncharacteristically subtle by WWE standards. Like if you weren't paying attention, you wouldn't notice it. The way the end all went down as well was really good - a real step out of the established and expected jumping of the rail and beatdown. Him getting dragged off by cops who had been chasing him all night whilst being barely even acknowledged by performers or commentators. Must admit, didn't think it was possible to not be invested in an AJ Styles match especially just because I was wanting to know what was going on with a car just sitting in the background of the arena! Love that they still didn't really mention the guy as the show closed. Had to do some reading to find out who it was but it was just brilliant storytelling throughout the night. From memory in NXT he's fine in the ring, he's got the look, and you could easily write him as a heel or face depending on what you need. Going to be really interesting to see how the whole product looks once we get a full month's build and the Cardiff show.
