What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

What story was there left to be told? In alien, they stumbled upon the alien race for the first time, Ripley "won the day" after which they sent the "atmosphere team" or whatever they were told, then Ripley et al went there to save the day again, wiped out the Queen and in effect all the aliens. Alien 3 has the "crash" into the prison planet, and Alien ravages the convicts, that Alien is killed, and Ripley commits suicide with the Queen - no more Aliens. The only "stories" are the pre-human contact (no better than Predator vs Alien), the missing link between Alien and Aliens - which was filled in in Aliens special edition (and hence no need to make a new film) and then anything after Alien 3 - i.e. Alien Ressurection/Alien vs Predator. There is no story left untold.

Well, there could be how the Aliens ended up on the planet, or even the big ship that they were on. Just because the Aliens from the original 3 movies are gone doesn't mean that the story has to end there.

Thats just like having Alien vs Predator, or Alien vs another Alien. Also if all the Aliens are gone, then they can't move on from Alien 3 can they.......

But the Aliens on the original planet came on the spaceship that crashed landed there. So there could easily be more out there. And if they were to get back Ridley Scott or James Cameron, then you can bet it wouldn't be the shitfest that the AvP movies are.

But Alien 3 is a good end point for the series, there is no need to keep going and flogging a dead duck now. Everything else that will be done is not going to add to the story. I would be all for a remake of the first one, but not for any more films. I personally don't care how they got there, or if there are any more "out there" to be found - that is what the AVP is base on.

Iron Man! Robert Downey Jnr is brilliant as Tony Stark and the effects are first class. There is less of him being Iron Man than I thought there would be, but RDJ is great on screen out of the suit so they get away with it.

If you like your blockbusters go see this!

For people who like to see scenes at the end of the credits there is one on this film.

Into the Wild

IMDB page

Emile Hirsch was absolutely sensational in his role as the main character.

A very very very well put together movie with plenty of emotion and even more food for thought.

Sean Penn has done an unbelievable job with this movie.

Id thoroughly recommend this movie to anyone. Absolutely brilliant

9.5/10

Dnevnoy dozor AKA Day Watch (2006)

7/10

Despite it being a tad "Hollywood" for me (on only a $4.2 million budget), it was still a good film.

As I was a bit tired I watched it in English rather than Russian with subtitles, and the translation was crap at times, but it's never going to be exact so can let that go.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas 3/10

Utter drivel

Wrong, sir, wrong! :P

Just back from seeing The Fixer (it was released as something else in the UK) starring George Clooney as a slightly underhand lawyer trying to get payback for the death of his manic depressive genius lawyer friend. Although it doesn't sound like it, it's not unlike a Bourne movie, except with plot, intelligence and a generally very good script. 7/10

Michael Clayton? If so, cracking movie. And another one that goes against my natural feeling to dislike George Clooney.

Possibly something to do with being able to make womens knickers moist from 500yds.

The film you are referring to is called Michael Clayton and is not called "The Fixer" anywhere on Earth, so which planet are you currently on holiday on?

Yeah, but there may well be time constraints as to why the first film is shorter than the first book, in terms of storyline. (i haven't seen it yet, so can't say if it is a bad time to stop).

It ends after

they free the kids from bolvadar(sp) the place where they were cutting the daemons from the kids. IMO they could have easily tacked on anothe 10/15 mins to have lyra and roger meet azral and him kill roger and head through the opening to another world

Iron Man 8/10 Loved this movie and it was much fun. If you do go and see it wait till the very end of the credits as there is a scene that suggests a humdinger of a movie may be coming in the future.

Saw IV - 6/10 watched it to finish off the series, it wasn't as gory as the 3rd (imo a good thing) and it did tie up some loose ends but as usual, they leave it open at the end for another.

In Japan. And yes, it has been released as "フィクサ” - Fi Ku Sa (Fixer) - as the words Michael Clayton are presumably utterly meaningless.

Decent movie nonetheless.

Edited to remove the "the" from the title.
