stemjsim
The Cat in the Hat (2003) 7/10 So unbelievably shit! You gave it 7/10? WTF 7 isn't a shit film ffs unless your rating system goes from 7 - 10. Anyway Just walked out of a screening of 21 as it was mind numbingly boring and I could see where the film was going a mile off. The fucking thing is probably still showing at the moment . 0/10 a first. I have never walked out of a film before. Suffice to say, not recommended for anyone with a braincell
josecomehome
I went a bought a hoard of DVDs recently. There were a load of great films in 2007 and the early part of 2008. I loved the Jesse James-Robert Ford one (9.5/10) and There Will Be Blood (9/10). This Is England(8/10), Tell No One (9/10), Rescue Dawn (9/10), Michael Clayton(8/10), Last King of Scotland (8.5/10), Letters from Iwo Jima (8/10), Flags of our Fathers (8/10). Hallam Foe (7.5/10), Curse of the Golden Flower (8/10), Control (8.5/10), Alpha Dog (7/10), 3:10 to Yuma (8/10), Babel (7/10) There are more than that. Absolutely brilliant load of films for approximately one year. Some of the best as long as I can remember. They will stand the test of time. However, my favourite film of the last year or so has to be No Country for Old Men. I've read some negative things about it. However, I find it hard to fault. So many interesting characters and thems. Incredible dialogue. The one thing that keeps going on in my head is Tommy Lee Jones talking about being faced with pure evil that he can't reason with and not being able to understand it nevermind comprehend it. It's something that we hear only very occasionally in the news. Pure evil. I've spoken to/heard about 1or2 individuals who have encountered this in their work and it contradicts everything they believe in up to that point. Totally life-changing. Anyway- it's just a concept that fascinates me. Chigurh carries this role of evil off brilliantly. (10/10) It's the first film I've went to see in the cinema twice since Kill Bill 1 which was absolutely visually stunning first time in the cinema. The start of the film is incredible.

It was a terrible film, but funny enough in a bad way to be a 7. This was not a children's film! Shit in the same way that South Park is shit.
DomDom
Watched a couple recently. The Boys From Brazil Gregory Peck is astonishing in this as the utterly insane Nazi doctor who clones Hitler. The movie doesn't have many highlights actually, but he's one of 'em. It's not bad I suppose, but drags. 6/10 Never Back Down A thousand gallons of no. Not many movies are so bad that they get the lowest score possible. But hey, there has to be one. 0/10

Anyhow, wanted to ask something, am i way way off the mark thinking that there is a major link between Tommy Lee Jones, and Javier Bardem? not in that he can't understand the evil, but more that he is the same person? It was just the part where he goes into the hotel room at the end, and he also describes perfectly the pressure cannister that Bardem uses to open doors, yet mentions he has no idea about how he was doing it. edited to put it in spoilers. Half A Person
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford-- 9/10 Thought this was excellent. Great acting from both leads., great photography, a slow-burning tension...just so well made. Not one for the ladies though as females will struggle to 'get' it. SaltyTON
The Marine (2006) 4/10 When the best thing about a movie is Robert Patrick, you know there's nothing much positive to be said about it. A few in-jokes from WWE and a "that guy's like the Terminator" comment to make it watchable, but a terrible film! Cena can't act and Kelly Carlson from Nip/Tuck is really irritating!
YOGI IS GOD
Hallam Foe Excellent film, Jamie Bell gives a great performance and his Scottish accent is credible. The plot was a bit unbelievable, but its still one of those films you'd watch more than once Edited April 11, 2008 by YOGI IS GOD

StewartyMac
I can't believe I have just sat through the whole of Idiocracy. A 'goofy comedy' where a man (Luke Wilson) and woman are frozen in an army experiment, but don't wake up till 500 years later, where they find themselves in a future where everyone has the IQ of Beavis and Butthead, and the president is black porn star/wrestler. Yes, it's as bad as it sounds....weirdly, I watched it until the end. 2/10.
RayBees
Watched 2 films last night: Showgirls Hilarious and ridiculous. Concurrently 0/10 and 10/10 The Big Easy Dennis Quaid and Ellen Barkin in New Orleans based 80s cop caper. Really enjoyed it actually - fast paced and funny. 7/10

DomDom
The Orphanage Slow and plodding for the first half, but this delivers big time in the final half of the movie. It turns into a gripping story, and more than worth your time. Of course, the first half helps build to this. 8/10

uberman
Brain Dead 4/10 Only interesting thing about it was that it starred the only person to have been killed by a terminator, an alien and a predator
