I see he's been in a few more films that I've been meaning to watch, so thanks for the mention, chaps. I'm sure I read somewhere that they were both submitted as Supporting Actors but I have no idea how the Academy works. Stanfield was robbed though. The best peformer in a movie of great performances. It was kind of perfect as a small part though and, imo, when the film was at its best. Ruben Fleischer Tom Hardy's line reading in this remains one of the most bizarre performances I've ever seen in a movie and it would be far worse if they ever attempted to rectify. He does Italian American, Boston, High-T Charlie Kelly and a Venom impression alongside a dozen other accents and voices. Detournement Posted October 12, 2021 Share Posted October 12, 2021 Cat People (1982) A batshit mental remake of the 1940s classic directed by Paul Schrader with fantastic gratuitous nudity and a bit of good old practical effect gore. Natasha Kinski is the main character and her arc can be described as church clothes to full buff. John Heard aka the Da from Home Alone aka Vin Makazian is the male lead which is quite funny when the sex scenes start. A film which wouldn't be made now and probably shouldn't have been made then. Been about thirty years, but I remember it being quite dull despite all the scud, and I'm sure my tastes will have changed since then. The remake has it's moments but the main appeal is enjoying how ridiculous it is. If you don't play PlayStation or (like me) live with people that do, this won't be for you. Much of the humour is game-based. Basic story - a background character in a GTA-style game called Free City develops as an intelligent AI having fun and adventures trying to impress Jodie Comer. Outside of the game, Comer is a programmer who believes that the game creators stole her code and is trying to prove it. The wean was desperate to see that, but pulled out at the last minute, so I ended up watching it in the cinema with his (elderly and not tech-savvy) gran. ilostmyself Posted October 15, 2021 Share Posted October 15, 2021 No Time To Die - 6.5/10Enjoyable outing for Bond, Craig is fantastic in the role but I thought the story lets him down throughout, especially the middle to end. He really does capture Bond brilliantly though and I think his will go down as the most interesting and complex approach to the role.That said, I genuinely have no idea why Remi Maleks character was motivated to do anything he did after the opening scene aside from him just being a baddie. Seemed criminally underserved as a character. The Russian scientist was a cliché too.Ana de Armas was fantastic in her short time on screen and could easily support a spin off of her finding her way in the world of spies. The new 007 was fine without being overly interesting, seemed like they played that character as safely as possible but I'd be interested in seeing a version of that character continuing.In terms of what they do next, I think Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender and Henry Cavil would be great shouts if you were casting 10 years ago but I think they'll go the opposite way now and show a much younger Bond learning the ropes.
