Anyone seen Manos? Tempted to go tonight but it sounds a bit grim, bunch of Colombian kids go mad in the jungle with AK47s, sounds a bit Lord of the Flies. It's won loads of awards.

Do they take care of the place while the master is away?

I've wanted to see it since its release, but just can't make time for it. Hoping to head along this week, as it sounds fucking brilliant.

It's on all week at Eden Court for anyone interested in the Inverness area.

Went to see a film called Monos which was set in the South American jungle.  Initially I was not sure what was going on but after twenty minutes or so it does become obvious and it was actually a really good film.

I can't recommend this enough.

Le mans 66, Ford Vs Ferrari 8/10

Very interesting film focusing mainly on getting a car fast enough to beat Ferrari and the problems they faced from within Ford. I felt the accents were a bit off especially Shelby's. Some of the filming especially of the driving scenes is sublime.

Ford v Ferrari - 7/10

Pretty decent movie, from everything I have read of Ken Miles I thought Bale nailed it.  As with most "True Life Hollywood stories", there are a number of elements which are either are a slight bend on the truth of just flat out did not happen (For instance, Enzio Ferrari didn't actually attend the race) while Leo Beebe was nowhere near the complete and utter arsehole he was portrayed in the movie.  The racer geek in me had more than a few issues with the racing sequences (slight spoiler so added below)

Spoiler

For instance, when you come round the banking of Daytona and onto the main start finish line you should already be in top gear maxing out the top speed of the car.......so for Miles to grab another gear and pass the other Ford GT to win the race is just utter bullshit.  As far as I know, the GT40 did not have a 32 speed gearbox.

Oh, and Ken Miles actually raced for Ford in the 65 LeMans race....with Bruce McLaren.

Overall a good movie but for a racing geek, there are flaws.  The Steve McQueen 'LeMans' still remains the definitive racing movie.

Just watching Ronin for the first time in ages, although clumsy and a bit daft in places I'd put it in my top 5 thrillers. Includes an early role for Sean Bean playing a twat, which set up his career. And Robert de Niro doing his learner driver acting in the chase scene. 8/10. ITV4

P.S. Dragged out way too long, 7/10.

The King
Really enjoyed this on Netflix tonight. Starts off slow but builds fantastically towards a great battle. It was nice to see it portrayed as a dirty fight as was prob more accurate as opposed to the Hollywood swordfight in some big films!

Is this still on anywhere? Turns out I've missed the last showing in Inverness and can't see it on anywhere else.

Doesn't seem to be. I hate using dodgy means, but I may have to here.

I'm pissed off because it sounds like the kind of film that would be much more powerful in the cinema.
