Yep, i think it was a Pic you put on GiGi previously that i remembered about it, is this who you use?

Just used the build your own tasting set tool and looked for ones that had been mentioned here. I think for the set i done there it was £29.

It's not that one exactly though I have had the Drinks by the Dram Christmas crackers before haha. The missus got me a lucky dip.

I usually go to the Whisky Exchange for samples but you can get them from most specialist sites anyway, master of malt etc. Great way to try good whisky without forking out big numbers for a bottle that might not be up your street.

Balvenie Peat Week... Just learned it existed and now choking to buy a bottle. Anyone tried?

Got a bottle today of Balvenie 14 yo peated triple cask in Glasgow airport. Did try a Balvenie 14 year old peated in the pot still the other week. Was choked up with the cold so couldnt really decide for it much, dont think it was the triple cask one either. Wont be able to open it up until I come back from work in a few weeks but got a sip of it in duty free and it does seem nice, not massively peated taste though.

Jura are rebranding their range and discontinuing their current ones.

Asda have discounted the diurachs own to £18.50 a bottle. I believe it's nationwide.

I'll be going to Asda tonight then and buying several of them because that is a ridiculous price.

Origin is probably my favourite whisky, so sad and a bit apprehensive about the rebranding, but I trust Jura enough that I'm sure there'll be something to my taste in the new range.

I got the last 2 in my local store (well, the missus did...well trained!). Seemingly the staff had snaffled 5 bottles just beforehand.

To give a bit of a guideline, last year when the hibiki 12 was discontinued Tesco were selling them off for £25 a bottle and unmanaged to get 4 - 1 to drink, 1 to keep and 2 to give away.

They are now going for around £100 on Scotch Whisky Auctions...

Aye, I'd imagine they'll not last long at that price. Got my dad on the case while I'm stuck at work!

I've only had the Jura 10 and 16 but both were pretty forgettable. I suppose if they're dropping prices I can pick up the Superstition and maybe a sample of Prophecy before they bin them.

Have to admit Jura always seemed bland and overpriced. Not surprised they are attempting this.

Bland maybe but it's always been pretty cheap for the core range as far as I remember.

I've never been a fan of Jura.

Has anybody been through Edinburgh Airport recently? I'm going down to London next week for my brother's wedding. Was going to take a bottle of whisky down with me, can't decide whether to pick something up in advance or to see what deals are going in the airport.

I’ve just got another Bunnahabhain 18yo.

The last one didn’t last too long.

I've actually only had the Bunna 18 once at a festival, I need to add a bottle at some point. Along with with the superb Arran 18 it's there with the best Island stuff I've tried but it's just a bit pricey, good as it is.

Sitting tonight with these 2 handsome numbers. 2017 batch on the left, 2018 on the right.

This is probably the most interesting s-b-s I've attempted so far just to see the differences between batches. I didn't touch either of them for a good 15 minutes, just to let them develop. Started off the 2018 was sweeter and full of red fruit, the 2017 was bitter to start but eventually I probably just preferred that.

There's not really that much to choose between them so considering they're at cask strength it's a pretty consistent product. I've tried stuff like Aberlour A'Bunadh which really differs between batches. The Springbank is comfortably better though and similarly priced.

Apologies for how wanky the post ended up but I've had a few the night.

Back on Islay this week. The pubs here are incredible for whisky, as you would imagine. This was a mere segment of the Ballygrant Inn's bar earlier - they stock 700 whiskies apparently.

It’s been a few years since I’ve been on Islay but totally agree.

What were the prices like? I remember that the prices in the Harbour Inn were steep.
