graeme_p
Pretty crazy stuff - you'd think that there wouldn't be a single person in Scotland stupid enough to defend a straight-arm salute, but apparently there are many. I mean, how hard is this? Just say, those guys are idiots, nothing to do with our club.... But naw. That would apparently be "giving in" to the hardcore Republican ideologues at the, uh, at the Daily Mail. Also, bonus stupidity points to the guy on Rangers Media saying that the Romans gave straight-arm salutes, and that calling the Romans "fascists" would be PC Gone Mad. Clearly written by a guy who knows nothing about the origin of the word "fascism". Double bonus points for the utter ignorance and stupidity to even suggest that the Romans used a straight handed solute. There is absolutely no historical evidence to support this. It was not until the portrayal of Romans in the Movies that the straight armed solute first appeared. You can trawl the whole of the Roman Empire and you will never ever see a straight armed solute depicted in any surviving artwork or statue. This is the most common excuse which the far right use when challenged.
Bloomogganners
USA used to use it with The Pledge of Allegance, was changed in 1942 to the hand over heart gesture.

Belfast_Tim
It was a right wing salute ...call it a nazi salute or whatever that was used in the '80s when singing Rule Britannia and 'The Queen' at games. With the arrival of PC it was more or less done away with and everybody left a little embarrassed by it all. There is actually a picture of a Rangers fan standing with an Israeli flag giving a nazi salute. Then there came the Red Hand of Ulster salute excuse. Good luck to anybody doing that at a Loyalist parade in Northern Ireland! A community that takes great pride in the sacrifices they made in destroying National Socialism.

Apache Don
Off topic but hey it's the BRALT. Cammy Bell reckons that setting a new shut out record in what is now, the 3rd tier of the Scottish League, will get him back into the national squad. Edit to add: Does Jon Daley have a Scottish granny? Edited October 28, 2013 by Apache Don

Cammy Bell reckons that setting a new shut out record in what is now, the 3rd tier of the Scottish League, will get him back into the national squad. Edit to add: Does Jon Daley have a Scottish granny? Bell conceded 3 early first half goals in the Painters & Decorators league ?,how does that equate to a national call up . Back on topic !,me thinks that King's knob is being sucked 24/7 by the two remaining Inter's board members to part with a cash investment into the club to keep the club cash solvent on what should be Wonga rates because the institutional investors shares cannot be diluted. This would then mean the club will be paying off to King what can only be seen as the interest rate only each year so that King will make a nice tidy sum of money out of the club year in and year out whilst the initial cash he loaned the club will always be the same. I'm guessing here but King's involvement looks like to be a cash loan only to aid the clubs impending financial woes and if King doesn't invest and no other mug will either then it's back to selling the assets on leaseback .
