Colin M
If found guilty (of the double 'hidden' contracts), then won't UEFA be taking a keen interest? Can't see Doncaster and cronies getting away with a wrist slap. Any word from Haudit & Daudit yet? Popcorn is a bit crusty now. Given Rangers have participated in European competition and been very highly rewarded for the privilege, I think if it is proven that players were not properly registered and being paid outwith their registered contracts, UEFA will come down heavily on them/the SFA. In the looooong case against Sion, when it was eventually judged by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, UEFA effectively told the Swiss FA - "hammer them or we'll hammer you". While that was an entirely different set of circumstances, the "crime" was in some respect very similar - playing players who were not registered properly and therefore should not have been playing. This is entirely linked to the EBT case - I would think much of the same evidence would be relevant.
Desert Nomad
As nothing's happening yet today, if you fancy something to read... They're at it again with their disgusting Thompson bashing amongst other things. Read this and weep: My link Their forum rules. Read this and LOL: My link They really are thick as mince. I loved the "lets buy Portsmouth" comment
jagfox
A Sion scenario would be pleasing, especially as Govan Phoenix wouldn't have the cash to defend themselves by trawling their case through every court that would listen to them... No big news yet but plenty of diamonds in the dirt so far.
Savage Henry
Fkin hell. The last thing Rangers fans want or need is some consistency.
Gaspode
Any word from Haudit & Daudit yet? Popcorn is a bit crusty now. You'll need to excuse them for the loooooonnng delay in getting around too anything - they've been really busy in the back office with the shredder and those old boxes of contracts that were lying around.
flyingscot
The official gate wasn't 29. It was below 100 though. It is on Soccerbase as 29, so must have stuck somewhere although it isn't the most reliable at times. They got hammered that season good and proper looking back (but still held Hibs at Easter Road to get a replay in the Scottish Cup!). Their last two seasons weren't as bad but they were nomads and not really any hope of getting a ground and all the playing in Dublin nonsense I think everyone just thought they were best passing on and coming back elsewhere. I remember Clydebank v St Mirren being one of my first games in the North Bank at Love Street with my Dad. I feel proper old, a game against a team that no longer exists. Maybe Rangers too someday

The correct figure was 69. iirc it was the same day as the Tall Ships event which shut Greenock hours before kick off. MacWatt
I'm FIFA/UEFA make sure the Swiss FA hit Sion hard when they were found guilty recently. but then again that might have just been because they tried to drag it through the courts. The Swiss Football Association (SFV) docked Sion 36 points for fielding ineligible players. The SFV were threatened with expulsion from all competitions by FIFA if they failed to punish Sion, who were kicked out of the Europa League by UEFA for fielding players they had signed during a transfer ban. FIFA warned there would be a blanket ban on Swiss football at both club and national level if no action was taken against Sion by January 13 2012. Sion were docked three points for each of the 12 Swiss league and cup matches in which any of the six ineligible players appeared. So, if for example Rangers had 22 ineligiible players making any appearance in 50 league or cup games per season over 20 years they would be docked 52,800 points. On the other hand the contract letter produced by the Sun may be a fake/not stand up in court/be the only evidence anyone can produce and Rangers Newco will be back in the SPL next season as if very little had happened. It might be. On the other hand, the same evidence would be relevant to the tax case and the amount of evidence is rumoured to be a factor in that dragging on for so long. I guess we'll find out in due course.
sjc
Doncaster this morning saying if Rangers are found guilty of double payment they have upto 18 different sanctions, from a warning to stripping of league titles / trophies and even being kicked out the league I'll wager they will just get a warning if found guilty the fucking well should be !

MEADOWXI
It's quite possible that Ayr United turning down Minty Murray in the 80s before he got THEM wasn't the worst thing ever, If Murray contracts and unsustainable expenditure had done this to Ayr would it be a 3 week false-administration or would it have been instant death as they not regarded as 'a Scottish Institution'. Mind you Carstairs is a Scottish Institution.
port-ton
So this is the day that after weeks we find out that there will be no players sacked, and that the realisation starts to hit home that Rangers are going to come out of this smelling rosy with a new owner and little to no debt. Ah well, at least it was fun and games for a while until HibeeJibee got involved!

But you are assuming Rangers would still have been club the club they are today, If Ayr achieved anything like Rangers during the 90's i'm sure a lot of local from Ayrshire would be at summerset park watching the football and using the minty casino

I remember that day well as I was at a wedding where people were late because the traffic congestion was horrendous as far back as Paisley. Anyway, is today defo the day for the Lionel Hutz of administrators to take action?
