In fairness, that's precisely what the email Tomo leaked this morning says. Regan was convinced it was a done deal.

If the SFA try anything now they'll get huckled.

This. Still abroad. It what a glorious day. If the SFA try to turn round an spl2 I under two weeks imagine the chaos they would cause to sfl fixtures and the clubs who would agree to spl2 would also have to give notice of resignation. They had four months to sort this mess out, no chance of that in the timeframe available without then incurring the possibilities of legal challenges internally from the sfl versus the sol and SFA and possibly even CAS challenges with FIFA involvement.

ETA: sorry for shit spelling, using the iPhone on a bus travelling across Europe at great cost just to keep up to date with today's events!

The rest of the saints players were more worried about job cuts etc to be fair, and I think worried about their pals not being able to pick up clubs. Robertson, however, is clearly a Rangers fan.

Motherwells budget was cut for this year before any of this shit kicked off, watch this space for more cuts and news of more "concsciousness drivel" filtering its way down to you and your ilk from your board of directors in the near future. But as you and your merry band of men have repeatedly stated , youll be more than happy because you will still have your sporting integrity intact. Alls well that ends well if you`ll pardon the pun.... Paddy Power have just opened a book on which clubs are most likely to fall in the wake of todays decision......guess where Motherwell come in the list??????

Somebody turn out the lights when they leave................no idea of social implications,no idea of economic implications,no idea of whats just occurred today. Lots of back slapping and well dones to each other in amongst the usual low rent diatribe and social bile. "We have the power...." no you don`t. Watch this space as the dominos start to tumble....... Finance from the SKY deal first followed by the trickle of other meaningful investment that all the champions of sporting integrity rely on every year to balance the books. Please don`t run out the old argument about "we had football before we had SKY/television rights and we can have it again" The fact is that the clubs then weren`t run on such a reckless manner and the overheads relative to income were always managed responsibly. Clubs now frequently live beyond their means, Rangers/Sevco/Orcs or whatever witless title that they have today are case in point. The Scottish game at grass roots will be the first to suffer from the number of clubs that wind down their already fragile youth policies because of reductions in revenue. It`s the first place that cuts get made when times get hard. We are now officially on the road to becoming a footballing backwater.Well done everybody, let the self congratulation begin............

On the plus side with the number of "never going back" posters on here I`m sure the local high streets will all be looking forward to receiving your hard earned cash at the end of every week.... kerrrching!!!!!!!!

This guy speaks a lot of sense.............................................................................nonfuckinsense.

Apologies if this has been psoted already, but Jim Ballantyne is quoted on BBC:

"We don't have any control over the SPL. And they are entitled to do whatever they wish, within their own rules.

"But it's important to mention that the Division One clubs went out of their way to make it clear that their route regarding a solution involved all 42 teams."

Fair play to the First Division clubs, SPL & SFA tactics of divide and rule have failed miserably.

Surely, even if it's the case that Regan & Doncaster intended to go ahead with some desperate SPL2 victory-or-death attempt if they lost today's vote, they must now take stock. And look for a way out to save something of their professional reputations.

SPL vote... 11-1

SFL vote, even after the bribes/threats/hysteria... 25-5

All-n-sundry told Rangers = Third Division

SFL clubs declare unity against SPL2

Beggars belief that, evwn after this, they'd still launch another battle of epic proportions.

Players usually aren't very bright. They are also, as others have pointed out, quite explicitly in it for the money rather than the love of their clubs in most cases, and indeed are the primary cause of most clubs' financial troubles. Little point in being too hard on them for their misspelled, punctuation-free ramblings on their iPhones.
