~~~ Posted May 6, 2012 Share Posted May 6, 2012 See what? Most people in the UK do not give a f**k about Rangers. But yet your club are so desperate to prove to everyone how british they are, And you are telling us nobody cares? That's rather sad and pathetic, All they years of attention seeking for nothing. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
LordHawHaw Posted May 6, 2012 Share Posted May 6, 2012 I also believe many people across the UK view Rangers as having defrauded the inland revenue in a time of acute austerity, They have also defrauded the whole of Scottish football 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
gastropod Posted May 6, 2012 Share Posted May 6, 2012 ok ,, rangers(ia) toxic brand.......nobody in england has mentioned that,,,,,, so far ... all theyve heard is the usual mainstream stuff ,, eg the peepul, . poor ally ,tv deal , spl neeeeeds, etc ive never heard the the facts debated on a real english station.. nobody mentions the creditors that will get f**k all ( and beyond tickitus , hmrc) nobody mentions the plumber whos already paid VAT on his materials . or the fuzz or the ambulance guys.. all i hear is how competitive rangers could/not be next season... just dont mention dignity in your argument.. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Chuckinho Posted May 6, 2012 Share Posted May 6, 2012 I think what most folk here are pointing to is that having a rivalry between teams being based so intently on religion and politiics isn't too healthy for the Scottish game - then you add in the smarmy way the bears are conducting themselves with their lack of humility and the financial negligence of the club and we are all getting a bit over this. Folk who may say they aren't fans of Rangers are now saying things like they hate Ragners and want them dead. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Paramour Posted May 6, 2012 Share Posted May 6, 2012 Go on yersel Yorkie - proud of ye. A dose of good, practical common sense from a man who has is clearly in tune with the majority view here. Michael Johnston should take good heed of these comments. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Also Dunfermline are a financial mess of debt and don't own their own stadium Be very easy for the rangers loving pundits to shoot yorkston down. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
He's hit the nail so firmly on the head it's broken the hammer. I just hope he can convince the other chairman to vote with him.No doubt though that they will argue that it's easy to vote for fair play when you won't be part of the SPL next season. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
chico Posted May 6, 2012 Share Posted May 6, 2012 (edited) Would they still be in that mess if they did not pay any tax etc this season? Presumably they pay PAYE, but not company tax as they make a loss year on year. They're in that mess by thinking a small town like Dunfermline will give them 6000 followers per home game and spunking cash on players. Dunfermline are no model of financial correctness. Maybe we have an opportunity here, while Rangers fans are helping lower league teams with their finances, to bring some sanity back to the SPL, and spread the chance of other teams winning things 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
chico Posted May 6, 2012 Share Posted May 6, 2012 How many clubs have disappeared due to being relegated and not able to get SPL money and a visit from Celtic / Rangers? None, but a fair few are fucked, look at partick thistle, raith rovers, airdrie utd. These clubs could remain uncompetitive for the next ten years. Dundee are slevering for a return to the SPL, as are Falkirk and Livingston, all have previous form for going daft with spending on players in the SPL. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
I'd hoped that Celtic could be leading the way forward, given our financial muscle when Rangers are liquidated, still hoping that we see this as that opportunity 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
tamba_trio Posted May 6, 2012 Share Posted May 6, 2012 Somewhere along the line we got lost. It's not about football. It's not about competition. It's not about entertainment. It's not even about getting fans to games; increasing attendances and promoting the game. It's about money. Which I could understand if the clubs were running profits and making owners rich. But it's not even that. It's about getting as much money as you can as quickly as possible so you can continue to vastly overpay a bunch of pretty shite footballers (whilst inflating their egos to the point that many of them are utter failures as human beings). The SPL deserves to die. They have a chance to rip it up and start something fresh, new and with some financial sense but they have neither the brains our courage to even try. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
The SPL is about providing the opportunity for two clubs to indulge in a arms race to get into the CL, the others are also rans, irrelevant, the whole game is set to that, from our government bodies, the media, seemingly the rest of the clubs too with what's going on at the moment. We are slowly dying the death of a thousand cuts, lets at least try and change it. Rangers and only Rangers started blowing this financial bubble 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
chico Posted May 6, 2012 Share Posted May 6, 2012 So would I, however one huge hurdle is better than two, especially if the dog gets back to wagging the reduced tail Hmm, the SPL fit next three years are a good as won for Celtic if Rangers are relegated, but the Scottish and League cups are open entry, even from the depths of the third division, you'd expect rangers to still make at least the Quarter Finals. It's all subject to the squad they can bring together. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
