pozbaird
To be fair, they may just be urging HMRC to go easy on them, so it may be harmless. Maybe they asked Rangers to be spared on humanitarian grounds, because they've got as long to live as Al Megrahi.... mind you, that could be fcuking years. Are they dead yet? Rangers obviously, not the terminally ill Lockerbie bomber. Well, now you come to mention it....

After all, FIFA took a dim view when the Argentine government tried to rename the league 'The General Belgrano League'.

BinoBalls
Agreed. Its not right but somewhat understandable that the Sports Journalists up here enjoy a "cosy" relationship with both the OF as they know they can rely on their hoardes subscribing to their rags if the paint them both in a good light. BBC Sportsound & the Daily Record's coverage of whats happened at Rangers has been embarrassing ! Indeed, it's a shame mainstream media are so out of touch with what so many people think. I think people like Chick Young have been in that job doing Old Firm coverage for so long, that he genuinely thinks his world is reality. He probably has no real concept how despised Rangers are by your average football fan because he lives in a world of press conferences and socialises with other journalists. It's like the St Johnstone chairman saying we need the OF. Football chairmen live in an alternate universe full of polished boardrooms, exclusive golf clubs and padded directors-box seats. They socialise with other people like themselves. They have never stood in a taxi queue next to some drunken bigot singing songs about terrorism; they have never sat in their home stand next to some arrogant OF fan who doesn't care he's in the wrong stand; they have never been escorted out of Ibrox/Celtic park for no reason by a heavy handed steward; they don't know what it's like to turn up at work and have no one care how your team did because they're all armchair OF 'fans'. They live in a bubble and they have never evolved to absolutely despise these clubs and their horrible supporters (with some exceptions of course). No, all the chairmen see is money & status. All the journalists see are OF stories. All the politicians see are votes. We shouldn't listen to any of them.
HEED
That's gone down well with the brain-donors on Rangers Media Morons Jesus wept, that's the first time I've been introduced to that site. weirdcal
That's gone down well with the brain-donors on Rangers Media Morons i love how the SFA have 'over stepped the mark' by paying a club monies owed to them by rangers out of monies they were due to give rangers. ie sfa - rangers -> H&D -> not go to dundee utd or SFA _Rangers_-Dundee utd ( bypass) happy days. let them go after the ones who will decide if a new co gets a licence for sfl..

CityDave
4 April 2012 Last updated at 12:07 SFA to divert Rangers cup tie money cash to Dundee United By Jim Spence BBC Scotland The Scottish FA say Dundee United will receive £35,000 of the outstanding money from their Scottish Cup tie against Rangers in February. This payment "has been offset from broadcasting revenue that, under normal circumstances, would have been distributed to Rangers". Rangers entered administration 11 days after the cup tie at Ibrox on 5 February, which Dundee United on 2-0. The SFA issued a notice of complaint against Rangers for not paying United . The club and its owner Craig Whyte were due to appear at a hearing relating to that and other charges last week but it has been delayed . An SFA spokesman said: "The Scottish FA has notified Dundee United that they will this week receive £35,000 of the outstanding money from their William Hill Scottish Cup tie against Rangers in February. "This money will help meet part of the overdue payable to the club and has been offset from broadcasting revenue from the competition that, under normal circumstances, would have been distributed to Rangers. "The Scottish FA has informed both clubs." A separate issue of unpaid monies following a league game between United and Rangers was settled earlier this week.
Hedgecutter
No, all the chairmen see is money & status. All the journalists see are OF stories. All the politicians see are votes. We shouldn't listen to any of them. It's exactly the same with the 12/14/16 team SPL argument as all you get is chairmen of your Dunfermlines / Falkirks / Hamiltons etc wanting as many places as possible . Strangely enough, chairmen of established clubs generally want the opposite to get a bigger cut of what exists. Strange one that.

JRS LEFT PEG
Are none of Salmonds advisors telling him he could be doing more political harm to himself and the SNP than good. I , as lifelong voter, would find it very difficult to continue this support . A company / institution that has flouted tax rules must pay its dues like the rest of us have to and cannot be acted favourably upon

Gibby82
The denizens of Rangers Media hope this £35,000 brings 'nothing but misery' to a 'heavy-duty Tarrier club' (United, apparently). Can anyone think of a circumstance in which receiving thousands of pounds would bring misery? The only situation I could conjure is one in which was some sort of 'fighting fund' for a financially fucked football club raised a ridiculously paltry figure instead of the millions predicted by the goons behind it.. A company / institution that has flouted tax rules must pay its dues like the rest of us have to and cannot be acted favourably upon If the SNP become part of this circus trying toget Rangers off then I'll be done with them too. Without wishing to stereotype but I would imagine a significant number of Rangers fans would be more aligned with unionist parties so, politically, I can't see why the SNP would want to become involved in this. That Rangers media site is something else!
