Jussy
2 of Celtic/Motherwell/Hearts in the final then 6th would be good enough. Aye, that sounds right. Suddenly it all just got very interesting (instead of just outright hilarious).
Tamdunk
lol our coefficient is gonna be really fucked after next season. 5 Teams in Europe and none likely to qualify for the actual group stages. Could be a sore one. Of course wouldn't expect any different if rangers somehow make it in.
stonedsailor
2 of Celtic/Motherwell/Hearts in the final then 6th would be good enough. f**k. St Mirren in Europe is a distinct possibility... This is going to be the best run in to a split ever in the SPL, everyone now has something to play for. Then the scrap after for the champions league slot. Who needs the old firm?
Jussy
But now we have to hope all the third-party player ownership stories and the dream of them going tits up tomorrow aren't true.
Araminta Moonbeam QC
And now, the end is near...... Seriously, this stuff is getting better by the day. I can't see much of a way back for 'Ra Peepul now. I thought they might weasel out of it, but I now realise that we've probably only see the tip of the iceberg regarding the MBBs shenanigans. Salmond's comments rowing back today makes me think he knows whats coming.

Squirrelhumper
Only winner of cup now gets spot, otherwise it goes to 6th place.
Jussy
Only winner of cup now gets spot, otherwise it goes to 6th place. So basically the same thing only it just takes one of 'Well, Hearts or celtic to make the final and win it?

Salmond's comments rowing back today makes me think he knows whats coming. It must be really nearing the end game. There is no way rangers can trade there way out of this mess. The administrators must be seeing this. Liquidation is the only option as I see it. No europe for at least 1 year, probably 3.... 60% of season ticket sold off. no tax paid, or NI, or PAYE. let alone pies, cleaners, Arsenal shares etc all sold to mr Whyte. Shut them down now. It is only fair to HMRC. We have to look after Great Britain PLC etc after all.
Steve McQueen
Only winner of cup now gets spot, otherwise it goes to 6th place. Runner up would get in if they lose to CL qualifier in the final.
Ivo den Bieman
The tailspin is tightening for Rangers and there's still no sign of a parachute. The "rescue plans (P. Murray) and the vain hopes that Sir David will return in the short term are about as good as the phoenix plans get at present. And they are both pretty pisspoor. I'd still be amazed if they were liquidated though. The current company may be, but they'll survive in another guise.

HibeeJibee
I thought they changed the rule last year? Nope. Gordon Smith... ironically enough!!... tried to get it chucked-out at a UEFA Congress a couple of years ago, and in doing so humiliated himself as barely any other association voted with the SFA. It was a distinctly Scottish problem and everyone else couldn't care less. Sixth will only fail to qualify if the Cup is won by someone outwith the Top 6, or by 1st or 2nd/3rd (i.e. most likely Motherwell) with a runner-up outside the Top 6. Big incentive for the run-in to Matchday 33. Edited February 23, 2012 by HibeeJibee
Owsley
Really hope we don't hear smith's voice on radio again. His career as a football administrator has been something else! Surely one stammering bluenose who doesn't know what the next word out of his mouth will be until he's said it, is enough. I don't need to go any further, surely?
pozbaird
I don't know exactly how long Gordon Smith was employed by Rangers as their Director of Football, but I hope there's not going to be an outpouring of sympathy for a shafted 'legend'. He was employed by Craig Whyte, and by his own admission was unable to actually carry out the duties required of a Director of Football. He actually listed all the areas of operation that should have been under his control, but he was sadly unable to effect. So, for however long he was there - what the fcuk did he actually do on a day-to-day basis? Play Angry Birds? Look at porn on the internet? How much of a wage have Rangers been paying their Director of Football to direct fcuk-all? Also, if Gordon Smith is just out the door and is already ripping into Whyte - why didn't he resign his position as soon as he realised he was a 'minister without portfolio' and was about as much use as a chocolate teapot? Weren't people in Ibrox gossiping about him behind his back at the coffee machine and asking each other if anyone actually knew what he did and why he was there? Like everything else to do with this sorry 'Scottish institution' - it stinks. Pleasing!

HibeeJibee
What would have happened if Rangers had got to the final? And won? I think their opponent would've definetely qualified, as the Cup Runner-Up. But I'm not 100%.
