Our techy teachers were among the most sadistic, narcissistic lowlife c***s I have ever encountered. Had the belt not been done away with they would have been very dangerous. I would love to bump into one now, even a quarter of a century later, and tell them to their face what a complete c**t they are.

Only with the younger/smaller kids, though, and just when he thought they were alone. Also a PE teacher who was happy to take a swing at kids in front of the whole class. Everyone knows the PE teacher stereotype, but perhaps the craft/tech teachers had their own set of issues.

Tech had it's own staff room. Occasionally you would get a look inside, it was always thick with smoke and had empty bottles strewn about. It didn't seem to be an issue. Then they all bundled into a couple of cars to head to the pub up the road at lunch time. My techy teacher used to swig whiskey from the bottle in the class whilst he tried to half hide in a cupboard.

Shandon Par
Got out of primary school one day (about p2) and instead of my mum being there to pick me up it was my grandparents. For some reason I went mental and chucked a huge tantrum, refusing to go with them. They couldn’t calm me down and neither could any teachers. Eventually the teachers phoned the high school and my big brother had to come down and batter me.

He would let us have a laugh and mess about and we all enjoyed PE Studies. A couple of years after we left he turned out to be a beast and was convicted for things he did at the school. And it transpired he had been moved to our school after concerns were raised at another school. We had a music teacher. My sister is almost 10 years older than me and I remember her telling me that this teacher had shagged a couple of her classmates when they were about 14. She was quite matter-of-fact about it. When I got to school at that age, I noticed that he was still running his "lunchtime clubs". Sadly there wasn't enough spaces in the club for boys. Only the, ah, well-developed girls made it in to this club. It eventually hit the news in the late 2000s. He was last seen giving a quote to a newspaper whilst boarding a flight to Thailand. He made a fast exit from the country after some complaints had been made. Note: just googled him for the details. He was Head of Music until 2008. His linked in lists him as an "international supply teacher" and spent the recent years travelling around Asia teaching music. There is also a funeral notice - he seems to have passed away last month. Spookily, the current music teacher at the school has the exact same name as him. The second one I have was our Modern Studies teacher. This one was a bit painful for me as I had always counted him as one of my favourite teachers. He was a passionate Stirling Albion fan and did some part time work at the club. I think he was the announcer or something. Years after I left school, around 2005 or 2006, he was jailed for downloading child porn pictures. He had also offered a lift to a couple of female students and made a pass at them.

This was our chap. https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/12356362.teacher-jailed-for-sex-abuse-assaults-followed-training/ he too liked to run little lunchtime clubs and it was mostly the kids with no mates who went. And after school clubs as you can see here.
The Moonster
From what I can gather from this thread, if you're a beast or an alcoholic, become a teacher.

It was actually incredibly sad tbh, an elderly woman who clearly hated teaching as she was far too nice and had neds abusing her and even throwing stuff at her during every lesson. Used to disappear with tears in her eyes to the cupboard for 20 mins at a time. Horrible.
Michael W
This was my RE teacher. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/scots-re-teacher-accused-trying-23407689 An absolutely mental tale - he was caught going to meet a 14 year old girl in a hotel room after contact he had with her "parents" on a swingers website (the "parents" were undercover police officers). He claimed that he was going to help a victim or some thing of that Ilk and this was used in his defence, but he was found at the hotel with condoms in his possession. I can't remember the ins and outs out it, but he was acquitted in court over the charges. I think it may have been on the grounds of entrapment. The GTCS were not so persuaded and didn't buy his defence, so he was struck off. Always thought he was a good teacher - would have a laugh with the class but at the same time you knew not to mess around in his class. Pretty dispiriting to see that come out. scottsdad
On the alcohol/teachers issue...has anyone ever gone for a social drink with on of their teachers? David Henderson, sadly now passed away, was a history teacher of mine. One night when I was about 21 I was drinking in my local when he came in for a pint. Spent an enjoyable hour or two just chatting with him (he loved cricket, and actually made it sound interesting).
thistledo
We had an art teacher that was an alleged beast at our school, there was this story that seemed to be handed down from each year that he'd put a cucumber up a girls bum. The story was diluted down over the years to the girl had been standing on the desk, hanging objects from the ceiling (art related) and he prodded her bum with an object. Either way he was a fucking absolute weirdo, thick glasses, heavy mouth breathing creep! He got sacked while I was there, for punching/pushing a pupil, who was in fact the biggest wee fanny in the entire school and in my school that was really quite the achievement. Probably deserved it basically. All the techy teachers were alcoholics. Edited August 23, 2021 by thistledo
