Boghead ranter
Phan Thị Kim Phúc, is a Vietnamese-Canadian best known as the child depicted in the Pulitzer Prize-winning photograph taken during the Vietnam War on June 8, 1972. The iconic photo taken in Trang Bang by AP photographer Nick Ut shows her at about nine years of age running naked on a road after being severely burned on her back by a South Vietnamese napalm attack. ScottR96
Cracking thread. Similar to the 'Iconic Images' thread, which was also a brilliant thread. Since learning about the Civil Rights movement in school, I am fascinated with photos from that era: This is the body of a 14 year old black boy, Emmett Till , who was beaten to death after SPEAKING to a married White woman. Her husband and brother, went to the boys house in Mississippi and brutally murdered him. His mother wanted an open casket to show everyone "What they did to my boy" It just shows the deep hatred towards Blacks at that time, especially in the South. The 2nd photo is what the boy looked like before he was murdered.

jm1
In addition to the earlier Tommie Smith and John Carlos photo, I also like this one from a different angle - showing that despite their powerful salute, they both still stayed loyal to their PUMA sponsor by displaying their running shoes on the podium. Quentin Taranbino
Wisteria Tunnel is located at the Kawachi Fuji Gardens in Kitakyushu, Japan. Flowering trees hang overhead and the different colored rows speckle the garden. Magic Mountain hotel is exactly what you think it is. It's a hotel shaped like a mountain that spews water from the top. It's located in Huilo Huilo, a private Natural Reserve in the Los Rios region of Chile. The Blue Lagoon hot springs in Iceland are man-made bodies of water, but the springs are heated naturally with the volcanic activity on the island. The ice canyons in Greenland were carved by meltwater and are as deep as 150 feet.

stevenc1991
Danny Hart at the UCI Downhill World Championships, the rain had struck hard and Danny comes down the hill seemingly unstopable and putting in a blistering time, when it comes to the last jumps he pulls a whip like this in super slippy conditions, before crossing the line 11.699 seconds ahead of second place and putting himself, and "that whip" into mountain biking folklore.
