Songs That Mess With Your Emotions

Not many songs can 'get to me' as it were, but Sam Cooke's classic A Change is Gonna Come is certainly a exception, fuckin' beautiful...

On a brighter note, it doesn't matter where I am, whenever I hear this I always feel happy, safe in the knowledge that it's safe to dance...

Party time has never been so HSE friendly

Black by Pearl Jam. One part of the song in particular has a deep effect on me. I had a lump in my throat when I saw them playing it live in Manchester.

My favourite song of all time. I guess you're talking about the "I know some day you'll have a beautiful life...." bit?

Ive a few favourite versions of this, but the acoustic version one below is pretty awesome when the whole crowd sing it. Get shivers every time i hear it

And totally agree with Jimmy Eat World's 23, another amazing song

I came in here to post Black aswell, its just incredible. Theres so many Pearl Jam songs that stir up emotions too, Given to Fly and Betterman also really get to me.

Anyways, this song by Porcupine Tree just makes me think back to my childhood, and of my siblings, for some reason.

Over the last 10 years or so I have spent much of it in various shitholes of the world - If I am feeling a bit homesick and this song comes on the ipod it is garenteed to get me welling up. It was used really well in a Tennents advert years ago.

Great choice Bairn. Always gets the hairs on my arm quivering.

Anyway, I have another song to add. A song about sacrifice, human connection and the attenuate sporadicy of true love. The writer and performer of this song always delivers it with such a passionate fervor, that can only be attained by achieving a truely mutual affection with another human being.

This is a song by an Australian guy whom I was working with last year out in Uruzgan province in Afghanistan. He is the son of a very senior Aussie politician and himself filled a diplomatic role - he is also a very accomplished singer songwriter. This song always makes me reflect on what the f**k I'm doing especially at this time of year.

For some reason, this triggers a lot of nostalgia. Don't mean to seem sentimental (a big poof) but it just reminds me of how simple things used to be and the fact that life is almost moving too fast.

When I broke up with my last bird, i got drunk and ended up watching Chuck at four in the morning. This song came on. Naturally, I put it on repeat on my Ipod, curled up in the fetal position and quietly sang it out loud for a good hour until i passed out. Still makes me well up.

God bless Brian Fallon, and god bless large doses of Drambuie.

No REAL reasons. I dont know why they get me. Guess its just the subject matter of each and the beauty of each song.

IMHO, Ben Gibbard is one of the greatest song writers on the planet and DCFC are very under appreciated

Will listen to these two songs in a bit. Not a huge death cab for cutie fan, but one song I do like is probably apt for this thread

Fouri dal mondo by ludovico einaudi. This song really fucks with my emotions sometimes I find it uplifts me and other times I can be in a state of tears over it.

Great Shout. I'm a big fan of Einaudi. You can really feel the passion and emotion that goes into his pieces. My personal favourite...

Absolutely stunning.

Brilliant. Dietro Casa is probably my favourite just for the simplicity of it.
