Hillsborough debate

The condition of the Stadium certainly did contribute to the Heysel disaster but certainly not as much as the hooligan culture of many 'football fans'.

It's utterly ludicrous to blame liverpool FC or the majority of their supporters for it though and calling it murder is laughable. There were a few Scottish teams with much worse reputations for football hooliganism than Liverpool and hooliganism still has a major influence in many places. It's even coming back here with the whole 'ultra' culture.

If the wall was at fault for heysel then the fence was to blame for hillsborough. Let's start a new trend of blaming inanimate objects.

Yeah the fence as long as it wasnt those cheeky friendly scousers

Liverpool, always the victims etc etc.

Heysel was crumbling though. Why don't you people see that? You see to be very selective in what you believe which in turn makes what you have to say on the matter void. Even Juventus fc are saying the game shouldn't of been played it that stadium ffs. Hooliganism was at its height at that time. There was chicken wire fence separating liverpool fans (20 were stabbed in their previous final btw in roma) and juventus fans. Juventus fans where throwing coins etc at the liverpool fans who retaliated. The italians as always legged it and a wall collapsed. That is fact. That is what happened. Liverpool fans didn't go to the game saying each other, hay lets murder some italians, You twats just hate liverpool to such an extent you will stoop to any low to make you think you can take a moral stance against them. No supporter of any club the world over can take a moral stance against liverpool football club and you fucing know it.

Any comment on why Liverpool fans find it acceptable to mock the events at Heysel?

Doesn't it strike you as double standards ?

Liverpool fans become so angry at anyone who dares questions Hillsborough, the charity refuse to take a £1k from Alan Davis

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2127608/Alan-Davies-Hillsborough-rant-Charity-refuses-1k-donation-backlash-continues.html

All he said was this..

He was spot on, Liverpool fucked over Chelsea at the time

I had never heard of Heysel until quite recently, certainly doesn't get mentioned anywhere near as much as the obvious..

Hillsborough has got so much attention in recent years because of the cover-up. That's why you hear more about it than the Heysel disaster.

It seems to be trendy on here to have a pop at Liverpool fans. Both of these tragedies could've happened to any big British club - but the cover-up was absolutely disgusting. There was an opportunity to blame working class northerners and the (various) authorities grabbed it with both hands.

Working class??? Scousers??? Come on to f**k, you've had one too many. Apparently the Steaua flag only came about as 'Reds' were pissed off at the 'Blues' turning their cuddly-love in derby into a slanging match involving words like 'merderers' and such like. Typical classless vermin, arguably worse than the biggest if bigots you'll find up here by virtue of their inflated social conscience. The Waiters Union of Bulgaria im sure would agree.

Definitely a disgrace, been watching loads on youtube about it and what they did was shocking and i don't blame liverpool for constantly going on about it. Absolutely awful what the police did - the bodies weren't even cold and the police were accusing the deceased when they got statements from their loved ones. It is blatantly obvious from the footage you can see that the police were doing nothing

That's the way I view it. Of course it's going to be a massively contentious issue to Liverpool after the way it was covered up by the government and the police.

Hillsborough has got so much attention because people keep going on about it. There's no question that the injustices and cover-up should be investigated, however I think a lot of what they do and the amount of publicity, and reaction to people less enamoured with their cause than they are, is a bit counter-productive to their efforts and turns people away from them.

I kind of agree with what Alan Davies said - if they had played the game and perhaps had some kind of service before/after, mark of remembrance on the pitch then surely that would have been appropriate. Refusing to play on the day is a massive overreaction to the occassion.
