Don't know if it's been confirmed but I saw one report saying drug paraphernalia had been found in his apartment.

This is from the NY Post who knows how accurate it is.

Michael K. Williams — who portrayed notorious stickup man Omar Little on “The Wire” — was found dead of a suspected heroin overdose in his Brooklyn penthouse Monday afternoon, law enforcement sources told The Post.

Williams, 54, was discovered face-down and unresponsive in the dining room of his luxury Williamsburg pad with what appeared to be heroin on the kitchen table, sources said.

Absolutely gutting man.

Onto season 3 of my long overdue rewatch (First watch 2013).... Marlo coming on the scene, String in full on businessman mode, Omar jacking everything he can find and not getting it all his own way, Colvin just starting to think about Hamsterdam..... Just great stuff.

Season 2 much more enjoyable than first time round. Horrendous watching Sobotka walk into it at the end

I rewatched the Wire and the Sopranos (maybe 3rd time) earlier this year and for the first time, having previously been a big Wire guy, I'd have to say the Sopranos was a clear winner. It's imo a much funnier and more entertaining show with a lot to say in a less obvious, down your throat sort of way. Maybe it's just seeing it multiple times but the moments, themes and characters I found so compelling previously fell  bit flat watching it again.

It's not that it goes out of its way to make cops look good necessarily in a way out of keeping with the shows broader message (a criticism I've seen before) but just generally the "everyone's good, and bad, and that's very interesting" and repetitive depiction of institutional malaise grated a bit. Even just the characters and performances of Frank, Bodie, Bunk, McNulty and Omar still keep it high in the top tier though.

I agree. The Wire was a great show. It has dated though in a way The Sopranos hasn’t.

They're both great shows obviously, I love the Wire, but can agree with the criticisms of it being dated and slightly sympathetic to the cops, although tbf it was primarily a 'cop show' initially. I think it's broad sweep of the different interconnecting institutions and the admittedly clichéd 'the city is the main character' is one of it's strongest points. "All the pieces matter"

I think the two shows are quite different perhaps only linked by 'crime', so it's difficult to compare.

The Sopranos is more of a character study of one man and his relationships. It's got more humour, was more groundbreaking and has aged better.

Tbf almost immediately on sending this realised it's comparing apples and oranges. Other than being a lot of people's top 2 and being vaguely about crime and decline they're not that similar

That its. The rewatch is complete.

Just. Fucking. Glorious.

The way it all rolls up around itself is just so good.

The message in season is loud and clear. The game dont stop.

Seeing Poot and Bubbles getting out just as you see young Mike turn into a killer and Duke turn into a junky.... Randy getting sucked into the life of care too.

Its all so hopeless for them and the young team in the latter seasons really convey that so well.

Way to much to write about though. Just basking in its reflected glory atm. Back up to #1 GOAT slot for me.

There’s a new series written by David Simon, George Pelecanos & Ed Burns called ‘We Own This City’ that’s just started airing in the US. Looks like it’s scheduled for next month on Sky Atlantic over here. It’s about corruption in the Baltimore PD and looks promising.

I spotted Landsman, Herc and Marlo from the trailer.
