Prior to this season there were 9 teams we hadn't played in a competitive game in the 2010s. We've since drawn Albion Rovers in the league cup and East Fife in the challenge Cup and will play Alloa in the league.

That leaves :

Peterhead (2008)

Brechin (2005)

Arbroath (2002)

Montrose (1992)

Elgin and Edinburgh cities (never) on that list.

Surprised you've never played Edinburgh City, thought your paths would have crossed at some point in the bunnet wearing olden days!!!

Brechin have never played Gretna. Could be waiting a while...

Haven't played Hearts since 1968. Struggling to think of any other Scottish league side we've not played against in the last 20 years (having played Celtic last year).

That's quite impressive that you have played everyone bar Kilmarnock since 2005 despite being in the bottom two divisions since 2006

Think this is updated and correct for us. Cove replace Celtic at the top as I don't thnk we've played them since December 1989 (happy to be corrected?). Celtic miles ahead of all the established sides still at September 1990. Next worst is Peterhead at October 2010, more than 20 years later! Only 5 other sides we haven't played in the last 5 years.

Sorry SD, your list is wrong with regards to St Johnstone. We played you last season in the last 16 of the League cup. Unless you’re not counting that? If so forget I said anything.

2011/12

2010/11

2009/10

Stranraer

2008/09

2005/06

East Stirlingshire (no longer a SPFL team)

1980/81

Berwick Rangers (no longer a SPFL team)

1969/70

Albion Rovers

Never played

Cove Rangers
Edinburgh City (in their current guise)
Elgin City

With Berwick Rangers dropping out of the SPFL, that's now a 39-year gap from Clyde in 2008/09 to Albion Rovers in 1969/70. It also means Albion Rovers are now the only team we last played last century/millennium (not including teams we've never played, obviously).

The League Cup draw means Cove Rangers will move out of the "never played" list almost as soon as they've been added.  (We have played Cove a few times in friendlies, but they don't count for the purposes of this list).

Berwick's relegation to LL throws up some interesting blasts from the past in terms of league opponents (we will have played most of these sides since in cup-ties)... When we left the East of Scotland League at the end of 1950-51 we waved goodbye to games with Civil Service, Edinburgh University, Gala Fairydean, and Vale of Leithen... More recently the relegation of East Stirlingshire at the end of 2015-16 deprived us of games against them... Spartans joined EOSL for 1951-52 so we've never played them in a league game, which I hadn't realised until now.

Having never played Gretna FC during their sojourn into SFL/SPL we will also play Gretna 2008 in the league for the first time. We had met in the EOS 'City' Cup and Scottish Cup recently. Similarly we meet East Kilbride for the first time in league action after cup-ties.

Never played BonnyriggBSCG, Cumbernauld, Dalbeattie, Edusport, Kelty or Stirling Uni in a league or cups (AFAICS).
