Stranraer fans feel free to contradict me (Blue Moon, Jimmy McCabe, anybody??) as this is just off the top of my head - looks like Rangers for us:

Rangers (League Cup) 1992/93

Dunfermline (League) 1994/95

Kilmarnock (Scottish Cup) 1997/98

Falkirk (Scottish Cup) 1998/99

1993/94 - East Stirling

1991/92 - Clyde

1989/90 - Albion Rovers

1985/86 - Montrose (one and only meeting)

1977/78 - Cowdenbeath

1922/23 - Forfar, Peterhead

Never Played - Ross County, Annan, elgin

Having a look back it does seem a long time since we've played quite a few teams.

While checking these back we do seem to have a knack of drawing the same teams in the cups. In the last 5/6 years we've managed to play Berwick, Dunfermline, East Fife, Falkirk, Dundee, Alloa and Raith at least twice!

The Dons played Elgin City in the Scottish Cup in 70/71

Rangers (League Cup) 1992/93

Dunfermline (League) 1994/95

Kilmarnock (Scottish Cup) 1997/98

Falkirk (Scottish Cup) 1998/99

Almost right CB.

It is Rangers from 1992/93 and the other 3 are the only other clubs we have not played this century but we did play Dunfermline in the League Cup in both 1995/96 & 1996/97.

Because we yo-yo'd up and down three leagues for 8 years on the trot I suspect we have played more other teams in a competitive fixture in the last ten years than anyone else.

Certainly in terms of meetings since the 90's we've played more than you. Not sure how many of yours drop out if you come right up to August 2001 (10 years ago) though? Can't be any better than us even if none do though. We've played 35 opponents competitively in 10 years (though it will be 34 once we reach 11th September as we won't be facing East Stirling again before then).

For Morton in competitive games...

2011-12 Livingston, Forfar, Ross County, Alloa, Stranraer.

2010-11 Stirling, Dunfermline, Partick, Dundee, Queen of the South, Falkirk, Cowdenbeath, Raith Rovers, Inverness, Airdrie United, Dumbarton, St. Johnstone.

2009-10 Ayr United, Celtic, Kilmarnock.

2008-09 Clyde, Peterhead, Hibernian, East Stirling.

2007-08 Hamilton, Gretna.

2006-07 Brechin, Motherwell, Annan.

2005-06 St. Mirren.

2004-05 Berwick, Arbroath.

2003-04 Stenhousemuir, East Fife, Dundee United.

2002-03 Elgin City, Albion Rovers, Montrose, Queen's Park.

2001-02 Clydebank, Airdrieonians.

1999-00 Rangers.

1996-97 Aberdeen.

1994-95 Meadowbank.

1987-88 Hearts.

Rather than Stranraer, given that Morton have been down to the Third Division and had better cup runs, I'd argue we've probably played more of the league than any other club in the last 10 years.

We have never ever played Annan Athletic!!!

About time we played Celtic again get them up the table a bit, preferably at their midden as I have never seen us play there, also a bit surprised at hibs low placing I really felt we had played them more recently than that, but we have payed them so often in friendlies I'm probably just confused!!!

I'd guess Hamilton would have achieved similar having been in every league in the past 10 years, and Morton would have done similar to Stranraer. Patrick Thistle have spread across three different leagues too.

It be interesting to compare to see if any of those three have had any long term non-matchups, and see if they are similar to Stranraer. I see a Morton fan has already done this for their team :)

Can't think of any other team that has spanned across the leagues...perhaps Alloa and Arbroath? I remember they've had one or two seasons in the First Division alongside being in the 2nd/3rd. Maybe even Cowdenbeath too.

Livingston played in all 4 leagues within 5 seasons, so they must be close to having played everyone recently. (albeit they might have missed a team or 2 who were being promoted/relegated at the same time as they were).

Was that the 7-3? game? I was there - one of the best cup ties i've seen. Seem to remember shearer scored four in extra time. Feels like longer than 96 though.

Aye, same game.

It was actually Windass that scored four in extra time after Billy Dodds had scored a hat trick in normal time. They were 2-0 up with about 15 mins to go before we scored 3 quick goals through Derek Lilley (2) and John Anderson. Dodds then tripped over a blade of grass and won a last minute penalty and the rest is history I'm afraid :( .

Our cup tie at Annan a couple of weeks ago means that we've played every single member of the SPL and SFL competitively, and the team that we've not played in the longest period of time is Elgin City(29/01/83) when we played them in the 2nd Round of the Scottish Cup.

Belated thanks for replying! Morton were desperately unlucky that night.
