Prior to this season there were 9 teams we hadn't played in a competitive game in the 2010s. We've since drawn Albion Rovers in the league cup and East Fife in the challenge Cup and will play Alloa in the league.

That leaves :

Peterhead (2008)

Brechin (2005)

Arbroath (2002)

Montrose (1992)

Elgin and Edinburgh cities (never) on that list.

Both arbroath and montrose will be crossed of this list in the next month leaving only 4 teams we haven't played since 2010

Quite, which means Edinburgh City in their current guise will be the only League team we haven't played (the Edinburgh City in the post above is, I since found out, a different one).

That's debatable. Edinburgh City themselves would claim otherwise I think.

Was it not decided earlier on (thanks to HibeeJibee’s info) that we’re counting the “Old” ECFC as being one and the same, at least in the building of these lists???

I think I was at that Clyde v Aberdeen game, if it was at Douglas Park. I seem to remember Theo Snelders clearing the crossbar at the other end of the pitch with a wind assisted kick out.

City must have played the Sons in a friendly a few years ago. I remember doing a programme article about the club badge. I wouldn't mind a trip West sometime.

There has been a couple of friendlies in the past decade but I was only counting competitive matches. But while you're here, can I ask if the current Edinburgh City is the same as one from the first half of the 20th century? I've seen conflicting reports and not sure what the exact story is.

It's slightly complicated.

Edinburgh City were formed as the Queens Park of the East in 1928 and opened a Social Club. The team were amateurs and played in the East of Scotland League and then the Scottish League until the late 1940s and then went Junior for 5 seasons. The Social Club carried on and had various sporting sections- pool, snooker, fishing, horse racing etc. In 1986 there was a team who were going nowhere in the East of Scotland League and a player, Alan Day, approached the Social Club with a view to reforming the football section of the Social Club and using the Edinburgh City name.

Because of the Social Club connection we tend to say "Formed 1928, reformed 1986". I mean if Hibs can claim 1875 as date of formation when they were in abeyance for a year or two in the 1890s then we can do the same!

For Rovers, there must be a good chance it’s either Killie or Motherwell. We hardly ever play them. Last time I saw us play Motherwell was 1999 but apparently we also played them in 2007. Last time we played Killie was 2004 and last time I saw us play Killie was 1997.

I don’t recall us having played Edinburgh City yet.

We played you in a friendly at Meadowbank which was notable for Joe Mbu matching Christian Nade in the air and giving him close attention.  Nade got so annoyed the ref told the Raith bench to sub him before he was sent off

There was quite a good Raith support that night too. Fair play for coming out for a friendly.
