Butcher had been in situ only since 12th November and was sacked on his 211th day in the job! Despite this he was the 25th longest serving manager with only 19 of the current encumbents having been in position more than a year (and the 20th, Tommy Wright, celebrates his 1st anniversay today).

EDIT - And in a blink we're down to 18 incumbents with more than one year in charge as Albion Rovers surprisingly dump James Ward only a month or so after awarding him a contract extension. Darren Young comes in immediately as replacement which presumably means it's been in the pipeline for a while.

I've been on holiday but see nobody else has updated the news of Clyde appointing Barry Ferguson yet so that's done now. Still no manager at Hibernian though there is speculation of an appointment tomorrow. Has anyone actually been in caretaker charge or did they never bother with a formal occupant given the time of year? Anyone know? Also has Maurice Malpas ever formally left the club or is he nominally still there?

Updated again thanks to parsforlife pointing out above that Paul Sheerin departed in my absence. Sheerin was Scotland's 2nd longest serving current incumbent with just over 4 years in charge. His departure means Dick Campbell, with more than 6 years in charge at Forfar, is now 2.5 years clear as the longest serving ahead of Stuart McCall at Motherwell who takes over as the new 2nd.

Sheerin's departure also reduces the number of managers who have been in charge more than 2 years to just 8. Only 4 have three years in charge, and two of those have only just made it past the three year mark (McCoist and Adams).

Updated for the departure of Greig McDonald from Stirling Albion on Saturday evening. As parsforlife stated, he had been 5th longest serving of the current managers with 2 years and 10 months in charge. Jim Jeffries moves into the No 5 slot. On Wedesday Stephen Aitken will become the 9th incumbent to make it to 2 years at the helm. Only 4, Dick Campbell, Stuart McCall, Ally McCoist and Jim McInally, have made it to 3 years in charge and only Campbell, with more than 6 years in charge at Forfar, has made it beyond 4 years, though McCall will make it to four if he survives to New Year.

Updated again for the appointment of Stuart McLaren. One a little out of left field he had previously been charge at Loughborough University.
