The General Ross County Chat Thread

Recommended Posts

I've seen our players taken a massive Dominos order onto the bus after games (Queens away last season). Makes sense. Get a load of carbs and proteins back into the system relatively quickly. Not sure why some supporters lose their heads over it.

God forbid County had lost. It’d be gruel all round.

Was it not a custom of Butcher's to get the team bus to stop at Pitlochry for a chippy on the way home from the central belt?

Pretty sure most of our managers have done that. No issues with it myself. Our players could be eating pizza every night of the week so long as they win games as far as I'm concerned.

A large pizza or chippy won’t even register for a full time athlete ffs.

When the players are at home, do you really think they will be tucking into spinach and apples etc all day every day? Nah, they’re human like the rest of us. As far as im concerned, as long as they keep winning, they can have all the rubbish they like!!

You rarely see an overweight footballer these days, even at Highland League level.

Did you not see VDW make his return after the summer?

It was quite amusing to see St Duthus congregate for a squad meal and meeting at the Royal Hotel in Tain before their match on Saturday. Far cry from my days of playing when you’d stumble out of bed after a heavy night before and blearily play against hungover psychos in the likes of Alness. The attention to nutrition, fitness, psychology etc seems to really have been embraced by amateur teams now which I’m not sure if it’s neccessary or not. Out of interest, do any other amateur teams do this?

I take exception to that.....

.....most of the time we were still drunk.

We (supporters bus) would regularly meet the team bus at Broxden McD during the 40 unbeaten run.

Glad they've upgraded to a chippy (chippy not chipper).

So is the person editing together our goals to post on the club Facebook a punk fan then? Coz that generic Alkaline Trio-esque soundtrack over the Motherwell highlights was a bit of a surprise.

Fit as a fiddle and mentally strong. They can't trap a ball though.

You've got to get down to the pub leagues before you start seeing guys with beer bellies, usually making up for fitness with the ability to kick everything that moves and even then they are in the minority.

I like that  If they can't trap a ball I suppose a wee dribble is out of the question  Great 3 points so a fish supper is well deserved

I see Harry Paton started again this weekend, how did he do?

He's a beautiful, omnipotent shock of blonde and we are not worthy. Really glad to see him finally getting a run in the team.

Paton and Henderson were decent in centre midfield against Motherwell, but the game really swung in our favour once they got subbed off for Spittal and Chalmers. Despite being a dour b*****d, it's great to see Paton in the first team, and I think his missus and wee one were at the game. Grivo's brother was there as well, who looks an actual unit of a boy.

Ricky looked a bit shite against Aberdeen, but has put in a couple of good if not especially noteworthy performances since (aside from that cracking turn and cross against Well). Definitely an upgrade from Kelly, who I'm surprised is still here despite losing about a couple of stone over the summer.

I'd say get Laidlaw as far away from the team as possible, but we'd be left with Ruddy. Seems to take far too long to distribute the ball, robbing us of counter attack opportunities and really doesn't look comfortable under pressure. Would rather recall Munro to be honest, but I'd say Baxter is still first choice as soon as he's halfway fit.
