The General Ross County Chat Thread

I fully support what they wrote. The club hasn't even half arsed things for years, it doesn't even making any form of attempt and hopes we'll just keep paying for our season tickets.

I think half arsed is a long way from what’s going on now, which verges from shoddy (check out the players wearing mismatched kits for training) to downright negligent - Mackay, the current squad.

While the letter in itself is reasonable, there needs to be mention of the obvious  contradiction between Mackay signing shed loads of loanees (by his own admission) and Roy’s bollocks about community and identity.

And of course the fact that our manager is an utter dinosaur in many ways.

Edit: I’m out until Mackay has gone (Christmas, I reckon), but the points in that letter would undo a lot, but not all, of the damage.

All 3 clubs have new recruitment teams this Summer aswell I think?

Possibly why we're all a bit "slow off the block" too. Our first 3 signings look like being 2 returning players from last season, and another loanee from the managers old club.

I’m not sure it’s a case of “slow off the block” and more being a little more picky and looking at players that have interest from a few clubs and as such are still hedging their bets waiting on the best offer. Supporters of every club tend to get impatient rather quickly when bodies are not coming through the door but I’m of the opinion we’re better off in the long run building a smaller but “ hopefully” better quality squad.

When Mackay got the SFA job, the BBC reported:

Quote

And Lord Ouseley, the founder and chairman of the Kick It Out anti-racism group, said he believed Mackay now had a "better understanding" of diversity issues and deserved a second chance. He also said Mackay's new role would give him an opportunity to "put himself back in a state where he can prove that he is a good person, and a person capable of performing both in football terms, and how he treats people".

Rather than the initial "it's in the past, I've apologised, let's move on" approach, I want to hear from Mackay on what he did at the SFA that demonstrates progression on the "proving he is a good person" and "how he treats people" parts of that statement.

It doesn't need to be a fans meeting. A sit-down interview with RCFCTV would be ideal. I don't think that's an unreasonable ask, but there doesn't appear to be any willingness to do so. He might well have done loads of stuff, but if he doesn't tell us how are we supposed to know? Sure, people in the SFA, UEFA etc appear to think he's great, but I'd like a little more than just taking it on trust from them. Football authorities are not usually known as bastions of progressive thinking.

Always amazed at how poor the online shop is, just have random bits everywhere.

As for the training wear there seems to be a fair bit of yellow. I can remember us having an away shirt around 1995 which was yellow, I wonder if we are returning to that?

Still doesn't seem to be much out there in regards to players coming in.

Can I shock you? I like it.

Although, I am pretty sure the home kit must've got lost in the post for them to announce all the other kits and not the home one

Yeah, Joma are an absolute gang,

And that kit is an absolute stinker, but nowhere near as bad as Joma can come up with.   I don’t know who at the club makes the call on these things, but they’ve clearly decided polarising makes for more sales, which seems counterintuitive.

You're aware this is an open forum and we regularly have posters from other teams (usually Caley & St Johnstone) in here, right?

Spotted today at Rosemarkie.

Got to be honest, folks...if this is indicative of the usual training regime, then I don't think you're winning the league this year.

I realise this is a photo of them walking on the beach but Ross County squads have done pre-season hill runs around that area since the 90's and certainly during Cowie's 1st spell at the club.

The summer Robbo was in charge he finished the race ahead of Steven McGarry.
