parfecto Posted July 26, 2012 Share Posted July 26, 2012 JJ basically said that the club couldn't afford to pay him over the summer so he wasn't getting a new deal, but that he was welcome to train with the club and prove his fitness/quality. Same deal was offered to Phinn and Rutkiewicz I believe. Those were the guys that JJ hadn't seen due to injury. Apologies if I'm speaking total pish here but I remember reading something along those lines on the OS a few weeks back. Yes he did say that, but as far as i'm aware the only two that turned up for training who were out of contract were Dowie and Buchannan. The rest didn't bother. As i said, i hope i'm wrong but i haven't heard anything about Bell all summer. Would hate to see a fully fit Steven Bell playing against us for another team. Don't know to be honest, with Michael Hart signing it might mean that Grant Evans will be at centre back with Cammy MacDonald, also the new boy Gregor Buchanan but he's young so he'll most likely be on the bench most of the time. He never really impressed me in his first season with us but I thought he made a very decent centre half in his 2nd year. Wouldn't have minded us keeping him actually. Tonsilitis Posted July 27, 2012 Share Posted July 27, 2012 Evans will do OK at centre half as long as he has a decent old head beside him to talk him through the game - ideally the other central defender or the goalkeeper. Another annoying habit he has is that he can break upfield quite effectively but once he is up there, he ambles back to his defensive position even when the opposition have broken quickly leaving you short at the back.
