If we're throwing names about,  centre half Barry Maguire been released by Motherwell.  I didn't think he was too much of a bombscare in his loan spell with us. Might be ok for this level assuming we will need players in that position of course. It's really just a guessing game just now knowing what's happening with contracts, like who'll be offered new deals,  who'll be punted,  etc.

Andy halliday ??

I have a feeling we're going to come out of this in a far better way than a lot who think they're bigger and am no fan of the board

If the leagues stay the same it could be a good season ahead

Halliday was reportedly earning £5k a week at Rangers.

I like all the chat of potential new signings. However, everybody will be shipping players out rather than looking to add to a squad for a long time yet.

QoS have only 4 players signed so won't be shipping players out, only Leighfield, Holt, Oliver & Dobbie are signed players.

5k.  Well he won't  get that anywhere else in Scotland that's English 1st div money (or used to be before now) can't think why he would go to Sunderland or Ipswich when we have so much to offer

Indeed, but I think we will be running on a skeleton staff for a couple of months yet.

Hopefully Mercer, Semple, Murray & Lyons would be retained when the squad is re-assembled. Would probably keep Kilday as well and I think Osman would have been a good squad member if he had stayed fit.
Get a decent keeper signed early and that would be a decent base to build the rest of a 20-man squad from.
Wilson looked ok and I wouldn’t be against adding him , but McGuire would be a no.
Any loan signings - make sure they are for the full season!

You can't prevent that. McCrorie WAS on loan for the full season, but you'll never get a scenario where the parent club cannot recall them during a window. It's always possible to cancel a loan.

Nobody would be suggesting it anyway if we’d signed Stewart first and he’d been recalled. If that had happened, we’d currently be looking forward to League 1.

That ain't going to happen. Would think it highly unlikely that Queens could afford to do that at the moment..

A predictable response, with the only surprise being that it came from someone other than Northfield.

We can't afford to keep him either.  There is not one metric that could be used for measuring a manager's success in which Johnston's performance last season would be deemed positive.  He is an abject failure at this level.

If we have to cut the playing budget to pay off his contract then so be it.  He doesn't deserve the chance to manage us next season.

Have to agree with Palmy here. Sadly AJ isn't up to this level. Unlike GN, AJ doesn't have the defence of budget size. He had one of the biggest budgets in the division when he managed Dunfermline and still made an arse of it. Given he had the biggest budget and a group of professional players in League 1 I'd say the jury is still out whether he's even capable at that level. Covid has just given us a stay of execution really.

Spot on .

We were awful and if the season had finished  normally,I have no doubt we would have been relegated .

He is clearly not capable ,his signings were in the most abysmal .

Certainly wasn't defending the manager had the season continued he would probably been sacked.....

The second half of the season was awful, theres no getting away from that, but at the end of December we were 6th with a game in hand, over everyone above us, against a struggling Morton side. Had we won that, we would have been level with Ayr in 4th, one point behind Dundee and 4 points behind ICT in second.

Losing Brownlie, El Bak and McCrorie in January killed our season

All of which was entirely outwith his control and its notoriously difficult to recruit replacements in January. Allan Johnston was doing fine at the turn of the year.
