AyrshireTon
My wife's friend's boy has signed with Queens. He's a goalkeeper who has been in the Stranraer youth team and Ayr (youth or reserves, not sure). This is his first full time contract.

Avci’s sister doesn’t have much of a case considering he couldn’t even get a game for Stranraer.

D'Jaffo
Why? Someone on our thread said we’re interested in signing him. Can’t really remember anything about him from last season except he was the replacement for the guy that signed for Ross County.

Has he been released by Motherwell or are you hoping to get him on loan? Good in the air and composed on the ground and has a bit of pace too. Definitely got promise. Would have welcomed him back at Palmerston.

Maguire signed a 2 year contract with Motherwell it would be a loan deal . Things a bit slow on signing players old and new . Money will be the problem signing for Queens will probable be most players last option

Good on the ball but had a tendency to get bullied. I think the combination of him and Doyle in the second half of the season was one of the reasons we became so fragile to high balls. There is no reason he won't improve though.

Doyle and McGuire both look like they work better with a stopper like Semple or Brownlie beside them
Sloop John B
Maguire would probably look outstanding on a team where they have a lot more of the ball. Where he can get on the ball and break forward and doesn’t have to sit in for long periods. On a team like ours his attempts to break forward or play football often just caused more trouble. I was almost like he got bored and tried to do far too much. There were a few times he was beaten by just not being strong enough (He is like 21 in his defence) the main memory I have is being getting floored by Cosgroves behind in the build up to the first Aberdeen goal. The fit for the team ended up being like going hillwalking and bringing some brown brogues.
QoS_Blue1919
Does anyone know how many different nationalities we’ve had in a single match day squad ever?We had 7 at a couple points this season (Scottish, English, Turkish, American, South African, Canadian, Australian). Surely a record number for Queens?

Jacobs isnt South African, he is Dutch technically, despite being born in Johannesburg. Though it doesnt change your point. Nationality these days is slightly spurious anyway. Mehmet, McGrath, Aird and Dykes (& Norman) all have joint British nationality notwithstanding whichever country they chose to represent. Edit - I imagine 7 will be a record. We didnt have a track record traditionally for exotic signings and until very recently a match day squad was 11 or 13 players.
