Serious question, what is the point of a pre-contract rather than just wait till the end of the season. Does the player get anything extra in the meantime. Also a damming indictment in that he obviously doesnt think we’ll be going up !

Dykes obviously wanted to leave at the end of the season but getting a PCA signed means that he doesn’t have to worry about waiting around in the summer and can focus on the rest of the season.

Anyway PCA between two Scottish clubs can be iffy if they aren’t careful. Scots Law dictates you can’t agree to agree to something so if they’re not done correctly they can be broken.

Doubt our (admittedly slim) promotions prospects have anything much to do with it. Ultimately, as is generally the case with such things, it’ll be about the money.

Always liked Dykes, but felt he was a work in progress - an athlete that we were trying to turn into a footballer. Very few players at this level in Scotland have his natural athletic gifts: strength, physique, height, pace. But he was far from a natural finisher, his first touch could be better at times, and he didn’t always make the impact that his physical attributes suggested he should.  He’s improved massively this season and has the potential to improve further, so I doubt we’ve seen the best of him. As has been suggested, he’s not irreplaceable, but he won’t necessarily be easy to replace either.

Is there any rumours (idle gossip about random players coming is part of the fun)or news regarding players coming in before the window SLAMS shut?

I know the manager said it would be likely that any deals would be done near the end of the window.  Can loan deals be completed after the window closes?

There will be players coming in but how many will depend on tonight’s result.

Noticed that Jason Kerr has reportedly had a £200’000 bid rejected by Saints from English League 1 side Barnsley.

His contract runs out in 2020, I reckon he’ll see it out and off to the English championship.

I’d have hated to have been the guy to clean up the mess after Naysmith   heard that an industrious midfielder than could play in two defensive positions was available on a loan.

Is he a holding midfielder then? Happy with a body. Can't say it's an area we needed cover in though. Unless he is in fact an attack minded player.

he is probably more defensive, but can go past men. Look at goal against doondee last year when we won 3-2 after dicker sent off.

Ran from halfway line beating half their team before calm finsh

Iain Wilson is a cracking player guys, look after him.

Big lurch might look a bit awkward with the ball at his feet but when he strides forward he ghosts past players. He's quite versatile to as he can play midfield, right back & he's even played centre back on occasion. He has some engine on him, will run all day, he was the scottish schools cross country champion.

As Steve Clarke says, he will be a big player in our future

All the best for the rest of the season........

You've just described Joe Thomson which is promising. We tend to look after Killie loanees. Hopefully better than the last one you gave us though [emoji14]
