Are Qots fans-content to be middling championship fare or is there a discontent amongst fans based on where you could be with dobbie. Do fans think you could be doing much better with such a prolific striker at this level? Qots are such an interesting team, would like to see them challenge at this level but there always seems to be barriers

We haven't a haapenny to rub together. For our budget, we are doing roughly what I thought we would . The  youth system isn't producing anything .The two goalies are suspect to anything crossed in to the box .Going forward we are as good as anyone in this division . Our crowds are pathetic in numbers .

Football is all about winning  does not matter how you play would rather play poor and win 1 nil rather than chuck away a 3 goal lead  .How can you enjoy the last 20 mins I can see now why we get crap crowds 1200 odd looks like Dumfries has given up on Queens you can see why at er today

Wish you’d give up on Queens

Knowing how much our fans love a stat, had a look at the league defensive record of the CB pairings. Of course, the stats don’t identify who was or wasn’t to blame for every goal, so can be misleading. However.....

Fordyce and Semple 4.5 games played together, 9 goals conceded, average 2 goals per game. Clean sheets achieved - zero. Clean sheet percentage 0%.

Fordyce and Doyle 3.5 games played together, 3 goals conceded, average 0.86 goals per game. Clean sheets achieved - two. Clean sheet percentage 57%.

Doyle and Semple 6 games played together, 6 goals conceded, average 1 goal per game. Clean sheets achieved - four. Clean sheet percentage 67%.

Summary

Fordyce and Semple playing together is the least effective partnership conceding an average of 2 goals per game and achieving no clean sheets.

Doyle and Semple is the most effective partnership in terms of achieving clean sheets which they have managed in 2/3rds of their games, compared with none when Fordyce and Semple play together.

Doyle and Fordyce have a middling clean sheet record, but a slightly better overall goals conceded record than Doyle and Semple.

6 clean sheets out of 9.5 games and 9 goals conceded with Doyle playing CB, no clean sheets from 4.5 games and 9 goals conceded when he hasn’t played CB. Both Semple and Fordyce’s records improve when Doyle plays. So the most significant point here is that Doyle should be the first choice CB. Appreciate that Doyle at CB means Mercer at RB. But probably better to have a weakness there rather than at CB.

Great stats, very revealing!

Though Fordyce hasn't been particularly bad since he's came back, I think it's poor he went straight back in to the side. Doyle and Semple had made a great partnership and should never have been split up. Whether Doyle is naturally a RB or not he's been comfortably better for us at CB. If Fordyce was to be shoehorned in it should have been at RB IMO.

Our best back 4 would be Fordyce Doyle Semple Marshall.

it is balanced in terms right and left footed players and keeps Doyle and Semple as a pairing.

I also agree that Fordyce was conveniently brought back in as Semple needed a rest ! Very handy that.

At 19 young Semple is still learning his trade but as a centre back he has never let the team down and him and Doyle had a real partnership building which was split up to shoehorn Fordyce back in.

Taking into account the Doyle/ Semple partnership were playing in the Alloa game, that game aside, they have been excellent together. Doyle’s vocals help the youngster no end.

Just my opinion

After New Year Championship matches will be broadcast live on BBC Scotland's new channel in a regular Friday night slot. Hoepfully we won't get any games moved to accommodate this.

Out of interest will the new bbc Scotland channel be available on Freeview in Dumfries and Galloway

I think we probably improve defensively when Doyle plays CB because he is vocal and an organiser.
Semple and Fordyce go about their business quietly and probably benefit by having Doyle playing beside them.
I would have the CB pairing of Semple and Doyle with Fordyce playing RB and Marshall LB.
Still desperately need a competent and commanding goalie too!!

That’s smaller crowds then if on TV.
Unless compensated not good news at all.

Don't think Queens would feature at home anymore than twice a season. The hardcore 1200 supporters will still turn out regardless.

Surely when the televised games are sorted out they'll look at it based on the mileage between the sides. I can't imagine we'd be given a home or away tie on a Friday night against Inverness or Ross County.

There is an argument those would be the best to move to Fridays as far less travelling fans would be affected.

I doubt it will be a consideration for the tv companies though, they will pick whats best for them.

In some ways, those ties might make more sense.

Traveling support would be small anyway and therefore wouldn't be down as significantly as say, a Falkirk support would be.

ETA: beaten to it by SD.

They'll look at it purely based on what will be the best viewing figures, most likely.
