The Queen of the South thread

Please don't suggest our model is even remotely close to Countys. We cut our budget year on year and support losses through a huge pot of money we've built up over decades.
Countys losses, over £800k in a good year, are completely wiped out by the chairman's personal fund, and their third choice striker is on over £5k a week.
Theyve used about forty players in ever top flight season, and regularly buy double figures worth of players in January if things aren't going well.

Totally agree - Ross County model is a completely false one as opposed to the St J one which is realistic, in keeping with the size of the club and built on sound business values.

Kevin Holt would be a amazing signing up there with the Dobbie signing .

Holt still has a house in Dumfries but as always the problem is money he is on 3 times as much at Dundee but I can't see how we can get close to that but in saying that I never thought we would get Dobbie back !!!

Andy Stirling think it would be best to let go .

The playoff games he did nothing to suggest that he could add anything to our squad.

Don Thomas us at a different level that Stirling hopefully we can get him back on loan .

County get a decent amount of support from the wider Highland area including Inverness. There’s still a fair few folk up that way who don’t like what happened with the ICT merger.

Saw a couple of guys wearing Ross County gear in Stornoway the other week (most locals seem to have a fondness for The Rangers no doubt due to the fundamentalist presbaterianism practiced in those parts).

Hardly. Dobbie was a good player in the English Championship in his prime, while Holt has reached the heady heights of Dundee.

Don't get wrong, Holt would be an outstanding signing for Queens but not in the same universe as Dobbie.

He's obviously talking out of his arse with the comparison, but it is at least nice to see a positive post from serial bed-wetter Northfield.  If we sign Holt he'll need to edit his standard template for new match threads.

"Really hard game this, can't see Queens getting anything from it.  We have nothing apart from Dobbie and Holt."

Interesting to see Laszlo letting Scott Fraser go, arguably their best player. Would take both him and Durnan in a heartbeat, however I wouldn’t be surprised to see vinnie go to Falkirk.

I can’t believe they’re keeping Laszlo!!

With Dundee United keeping Laszlo and two part time teams can it be argued the league is a bit weaker next season?

There is only one part time team (Alloa, who are unlikely to have a Brechin season). With Falkirk unlikely to be a car crash this time and either Thistle replacing Livi or Livi staying down on the back of big prize money there is a good argument its a stronger league.

Actually I thought the same as you but there were a few references to Ayr being a “part time team with one or two full timers” on sportsound the other night.
