Gary Miller, Alston, Hetherington, Tidser. All immobile and got run over the top of in this league. Even Gomis who was very mobile for his age was only good for 50 mins before us having to make a change. Craig will improve things and I hope he goes on to prove me wrong but he's not the sole solution to us getting dominated in the middle of the park. 18BAIRN76
I'd be signing Liam Craig expecting him to play a part in our midfield for the next 18 months at least.

Don't think anyones said that tbf, was responding to claims he wont be able to play next season because 36 is "pushing it"

Teddy Sheringham was playing for West Ham at 40, Spurs when he was 37, Man U at 35. Our very own Kenny Miller was at Rangers until he was 38. It all depends on the individual, as plenty of players are done at 30.

So if we sign Liam Craig lets give the guy a chance but keep out expectations to a realistic level. See him as player between the 18yd and halfway line if he is going to play for 90 minutes.
latapythelegend
David Weir played in a UEFA Cup final at 38 FFS. Certain players who look after them and have half a brain get better with experience because they improve areas of their game that compensate for physical weaknesses.

ShaggerG
BTW, we're all talking like we've signed Craig, which is probably a fair way from the truth. Does anybody actually know that we're definitely in for him?

Blair was 28 and personally I didn't go overboard with the signing, its always a coup to get a player to drop two divisions whilst they are under 30 but Alston had plenty injuries pre his return. I don't think you can stipulate an area of where he will play, when played for St Johnstone in the top league, he hasn't been that restricted
Ranaldo Bairn
The ITK boiz say he's signing, so that's good enough for me. I for one can't wait until he starts with the sexy shroo balls for Dwight Yorke to run onto.
ebobsboy
I was kind of hoping we would have signed him by now,, straight into the starting 11 tomorrow, there is still time ofcourse.

Whilst he hasn’t been our best player this season the one thing I WOULDN’T say about Alston is that his legs have gone. He gets around the park pretty well.
