It really depends entirely on how everyone views Holts role and whether we’ve got the infrastructure/set up to support such a role. Didn’t the club say that this role was to ensure that the role was to support the BOD in footballing matters, which they admitted they needed an experienced guy to help with decisions like we’re faced with now? and ensuring that the new manager/coach is the right candidate, identify players for signing? This is where I have a concern. Unless the new manager/coach is almost telepathic with Holt, it will probably work well, however whoever comes in will have their own ideas of what’s needed and for me that’s a position/situation  we simply can’t get wrong.

It comes down to the Director of Football job description.

Negotiate contracts. Identify players with the skill set given to him by the manager. Ensure KPI's are met regarding the background rolls in supporting the team on the park.

No input into team tactics or selection or signing of players.

Must be clear demarcation between the coach/manager roll and D of F so there is no blurring of the roles.

Nothing wrong with that to be honest. Obviously I'd rather we just let people choose themselves whether they're interested in the position. But the sun made it out that we'd offered him the gig rather than the truth that we offered him an interview. Can see why the club wanted to put that story to bed as it could have irked other applicants but they should all know how much shite the sun talks anyway.

This is the article, at no point does it say he was offered the job. The board are appeasing to the backlash from fans by trying to pretend Neil wasn’t in the frame.

Neil would have known the job was up for grabs and obviously didn’t apply. If the board were happy with those who applied then why approach Neil?

Would also love to see what constitutes the applicants from across the globe. The statement appears full of language that attempts to gloss over the very realistic notion that no one decent applied and they have little idea who would best fit the job.

Having said that I’m very glad that the club have actively identified Football/coaching experience as important for the role. That’s a relief!

Sorry you're right it doesn't make it look like the job was his if he wanted it at all. Must have misread it the first time.

"NEIL MCCANN has snubbed an approach by Falkirk to become their new boss"

"Bairns chief Gary Deans and director of football Gary Holt are now looking elsewhere as they seek a permanent replacement for fired duo David McCracken and Lee Miller."

Again that does not say he was offered the job. The way that sounds like he was offered the job is in the same way that Falkirk are making out like he wasn’t in the frame.

Let’s put it this way if you were perfectly happy in your job and earning decent coin and a company approached about a job you didn’t bother applying for, would you think it’s because they want you?

The better the candidate the least likely he is to agree to work under a director of football , because if we get it right guess who will take the credit ?

Yep, you are correct. When Liverpool won the champions league and Premiership, it was Michael Edwards’ name that the fans were chanting and was all over the papers.

The amount of shite our fans make up in their heads is incredible at times.

That's Yogi continuing to prove those idiot Falkirk fans wrong again.

It's the fact people on here constantly (rightly in my view) say they don't care if a manager is an p***k as long as he gets results, yet in the same breath didn't want Yogi cause they think he's a bit of a p***k. I have no doubt there was some bad feeling when he left us, but it was over a decade ago ffs. You sometimes have to just forgive. We were sitting in League One and Yogi offered to speak to us, and we took on M&M instead. Does anyone, in their heart of hearts, think Yogi would have overseen the powderpuff shite we've seen since? Would he honestly have done a worse job?

There’s nothing in that image that isn’t utterly wonderful (apart from the wristwatch obviously).

“So Simon, Fenerbahçe S.K., or the Bairns. It’s make your mind up time.”

“It’s Brockville for me, and I’m surprised you even had to ask.”

Nothing wrong with that watch, looks very much like my old TAG Heuer 2000 bought around that time and still going strong.

What is this hard on that some fans continue to have for Hughes?

He has been gone 12 years and didn’t exactly leave on the best of terms.

Move on.

Isn't that the point, though? That it was 12 years ago?

I was a pretty harsh critic of Yogi even back in the day, especially for his last season and the way he left us, but... I have to agree that if he had been appointed instead of M&M I don't think we'd be sitting fifth place in League One.

Looking back and reflecting on the decision to appoint M&M is frightening. They dragged a man off the car lot punting Corsa's and another from Costa to run a full time football side with no previous managerial or any substantial coaching experience. A competent appointment at that point of the season would have won the league with ease. We absolutely have to get the next managerial appointment right.

Away from your new manager search. What's the fans thoughts on Falkirk offering trials to U15s-17s players but making them pay £10 a head per session to cover the astroturf costs. Sounds a bit dodgy to me

Might have something to do with him being a big part of her most successful era since the late 40s and also being fairly successful as our manager too (which ended on a sour note).

Move on? That’s one those easy things to say. He’s an active manager who has just kept a struggling team in the PL. Not the biggest feat of all time but that’s what he was appointed to do and he’s achieved it with a bit to spare in the end.

It’s very much came to light that both were completely out their depth, like the majority of fans we all wanted it to work. Maybe the first signs was the game away against RR last season, where we simply shat one. Also the expectations of M&Ms being able to identify players/contacts  was simply horrendous.

Cannot, get this appointment wrong. After watching Fridays podcast of the season with messers Silky Sammy Derek and a few others, what a season to remember.

Would just be another embarrassment to our club if true. We're getting used to it now.
