Gomis and Miller are hopefully only playing together as Alston and Todd aren't fully fit. Where's all the knicker wetters at today? Friendly results mean nothing, all about fitness and getting a good look at players. Quite happy we've pumped that lot though. COYB

By highlighting our performance today, is that a roundabout way of you admitting that these games count just a bit after all?

This highlights just how much we underperformed against the Shire.

Clearly the wrong team got promoted. Never mind, looks like we could be passing each other at the end of the season....

Are folk purposely daft? If Kingsley has been involved as a trialist it will be for his fitness, not because Miller/McCracken want a look to see if he's up to scratch to play for us against Dumbarton or Forfar.

Maybe worth a 6month deal on today’s showing. COYB.

We should not be offering any game time to trialists we have no possibility of signing. We are not a charity.

We got a lot of money for Kingsley back in the day,  I can't see any harm in giving him a game in a meaningless friendly to get his fitness up.  Yes, we don't stand a chance signing him, but a little goodwill now might pay dividends a little later in his career when he's looking for a club.  Karma.

It benefits your squad that he can play to give other players a rest regardless of if he's going to sign or not. Pre season is all about fitness at the end of the day.

If there is a 0.01% chance that we could sign Kingsley then it's worth trying to stay in his good graces.

You just claimed he played purely to improve his own fitness. Trialists should be aiming to secure a contract with the club they are playing for, not using them to improve their fitness with a view to making themselves more attractive and marketable to other clubs. If Kingsley will indeed have no trouble getting a club at a much higher level on multiple times the wage we could afford, go on trial there.  I don't see a big queue to be honest.

Sneddon having Dixon and Kingsley around him in training won’t do him any harm, not often clubs at this level will have 2 Scotland cap left backs at training.

Since trialists have likely practiced a bit with the club, a trialist of a higher level might just impart some useful knowledge to your younger players and definitely helps your team practice against a good level of completion. Also, as noted, being in the good graces of a high level player can payoff, see Dobbie with QoS. I expect the higher level teams will be using their trialist playing spot for young player they want to look at, not a generally known quantity who they can pickup closer to the season kicking off.

Morrison looks a right nasty piece of work.

Just what we need.

Morrison was excellent today. He was probably our best player against the Shire too before he got clattered and had to go off injured.

Very early days, but he looks like he's going to be a big player for us this season.

He was a regular in the English championship up to last season  so there should be loads of teams at a higher level interested. He's only 26 too so at a good age.

Did he and Dowds get to spent a good bit of time together today? I know that discussing the signing of Dowds the point was he wasn’t as much a big scorer himself as a good supporting/linking attacker with scoring potential. If he and Morrison are working out nicely playing off each other, they look like brilliant signings for you..
