The Falkirk FC Thread

Can't see us releasing him, or even loaning him out to someone that we will be battling for the title with come April. Still think there is a player in there somewhere, deep deep down underneath that extra couple kilos he's  got on him.

To be honest I was thinking the same why would Falkirk let him go , however this has come from what is normally a reliable source time will tell. Can see Falkirk busy in the transfer window i'm sure your manager will want to make changes.

Beckett was indeed a good player with Saints remember him scoring a wonder goal at Parkhead.

Rumour floating around that Loy is joining Saints in the January window maybe you are making room to bring in players yourself has any Falkirk fans heard anything ?

I remember going to a Celtic V St Mirren game with my mate on a Celtic bus (yea, I know, I know, but we had no game that day!) On the way home they had some sort of sweep thing where we had to pick our man of the match. I said 'Beckett', (who had been brilliant) the guy looked at me, then the team sheet and said 'what'? So I says 'Beckett' again. He looks at the team sheet again and then back at me with a total look of bewilderment on his face. 'Aitken' says I. 'Cheers' says he before carrying on to the next seat!

We need to change the team and to get players in we'll have to move some out. Easier to move players out that other teams actually want. We have 18 games to avoid relegation - we can't afford to give Loy weeks and months to get his shit in one sock, we need players that can perform in every game remaining.

I can't see Loy being a factor for anyone this season given his form and fitness issues.

I know, I'm sorry. :(

This happened in the mid 70's and there's not a day gone by since that I don't hurt myself in some way to try to salve my conscience! I just thought it worth telling the story to illustrate the difference in intelligence between your average Auld Furm fan and the rest of us.

Actually, I've just remembered  another incident from the same day: As the bus was parking I saw an Asian shopkeeper chasing a young Sellick fan out of his shop armed with what looked like a meat cleaver. As the laddie was running away he was shouting all sort of obscenities at the man including shouts promoting the National Front which, I must say, I found quite amusing at the time.

Never heard of a National Front supporting Sellik fan, aint no black in the Irish Tricolour right enough.

Honestly lads, I get what folk are saying about shifting Loy out to make space. If he’s struggling just now I’d rather we looked after him. They say loyalty is dead in football but my heart melted when he said on returning that he shouldn’t have left.

If he’s having problems away from football, is out of form and fitness then why would someone else want to take him on just now?

Speaking of wild optimism, I hope that the rumours that he’s committed are wholly true and that we stick by him before he repays us.

Why would we consider keeping a player that doesn't even stand out in development games? Even if he is unfit, his experience should be evident in that case.

It's OK for players to say they should never have left but the fact is he did and has come back unfit and he has other issues?

Then again we could be thinking along the lines of getting him up to speed in time for a league one challenge.

I’ll be disappointed if Balatoni goes but can understand why he wouldn’t be getting kept on. He’s been solid, not spectacular since he came in, and was much needed at the time where Grant, Watson and Gasperotto were anything but. I suspect he will be on relatively low wages compared to others in our squad, and it’ll be easier to move him on than Watson for example. Having McGhee, Grant, Muirhead and Watson as our choice for two centre backs should provide enough cover for the rest of the season, if we are planning to use Balatoni’s wage for another squad position.

It’s quite evident that Loy isn’t going to work out for us. A (physically and mentally) fit Loy is an asset in this league, but for some reason it’s not quite worked out for him this time around. Unlike Balatoni, he will be on a decent wage, and maybe it’s time to cut our losses with him to get others in. He may move on, and may well succeed elsewhere, sometimes it just doesn’t work for a player at certain clubs.

I'd imagine his wages would be a stumbling block, perhaps a loan till May perhaps suit both parties meaning he can't play against us, tho current form may see us want him playing.

If Loy can't break into our 11 now, he is obviously best going elsewhere

Well that's one view. Him re-signing for us has certainly not worked out.

If he was shite and actually looked like he was trying I wouldn’t be so harsh on him, but he is shite and does not try a leg. Even in the under20’s games he was just walking about the park with his head down, not interested, not wanting the ball, he occasionally got into a light jog, shite attitude.

I wanted him to be good, I actually thought he was going to be the ideal number 10 we’ve been waiting on for years. Just behind the striker with a bit of quality finishing too, how wrong I was.

Never been a fan of recruiting former players. Loved Loy first time round but I remember his performances dipped after securing a move to Dundee & didn't think he gave 100% in the cup final.

Feel for him if he has issues but they're exactly that: his issues, not ours & we can't afford passengers right now.

He played with an injury in the cup final, remember what the alternative was.
