The complete lack of decent contacts to get players on from would be my biggest criticism of the likes of m and m.  Mcglynn is a mile ahead of them in that area. They did okay with McKinnon's players but then struggled in bringing  anyone really decent in.

Yeh can’t argue with that. McGlynns recruitment has been better than M&M.

If you believe they did and didn’t take it up you are soft in the head

This is a typical straw man argument where you keep clinging to a point that is irrelevant to the discussion. Miller went to East Kilbride anyway and probably earning a better living now than a coach elsewhere but regardless, whether they got offered jobs or not doesn’t matter.

Why is it irrelevant? You think they were no worse that McGlynn in terms of coaching ability. My argument is if they are that good why are they now out of the game. I am clinging to nothing merely stating the fact that McGlynn has a 30 year career as a coach. M&M hardly made 18months.

And McGlynns 30 year as a coach has so far seen him fail to achieve more points in his first 29 league matches than M&M. He has also failed to overcome the relative rookie James McPake, got beat off Marvin Bartley and various others. These are the reasons why we aren’t competing at the top. McGlynn couldn’t even beat M&M with his Raith team so experience doesn’t seem to count for much. It hasn’t landed McGlynn a better job than us and who knows whether M&M have been offered jobs is besides the point.

At the end of the day results matter and McGlynn has to make us harder to beat if we are to have any chance of getting through the playoffs.

Here’s how his record stands up for 29 league games vs M&M

Miller and McCracken

P29 W16 D10 L3 GF56 GA26 Pts 58

McGlynn
P29 W16 D7 L6 GF56 GA29 Pts 55

M&M went on to have 4 more matches before being sacked which were 3 losses and a win.

Looking at the above then if you still think McGlynn is a huge improvement from M&M, as stated previously, then there is no point arguing.

I actually suspect that John Mcglynn himself would say the league performance has been disappointing. Clearly there has been improvement in terms of recruitment and performances, however to be 11 points behind Dunfermline in March is clearly not great.

Yes, there has been huge progression from last season but that was one of the worst seasons in the club’s history so it would have been a disaster had that not happened.

Not to be pedantic, but 16-7-6=55 pts, not 54.

No there isn’t as you refuse to look at the circumstances when they took over. M&M inherited a decent squad McGlynn inherited the worst squad and set of circumstances for 40 years plus at the club. On top of that he has a league where 40% of it is FT against M&M being the only FT team that season. One factor where I felt for M&M was the way the club was being run then didn’t help them and the hiring of Holt in January undermined them completely.

Amazing what a player like Declan McManus can do for you in this league.

With McManus this year we'd have been pushing Dunfermline all the way. Having a striker that basically guarantees you 20 goals at this level makes a massive difference. As soon as he moved on m and ms managerial ineptitude was there for all to see.  The covid break in that second season papered over the cracks as after the restart we scraped a few results before other clubs really got going again. Before the break things were beginning to go wrong rapidly.  Mcglynn came in when we were close to rock bottom.  During the summer a lot of us on here would've snapped your hand off for second place and the playoffs considering the mess we were in but now it would appear that isn't good enough.  Still a decent chance in the playoffs and a cup semi final to look forward to. I'm sure mcglynn will be already putting plans in place for next season when expectations will certainly be a lot higher whatever league we are in.

Wtf was hagi doing? Can't ever remember him being the kind of player to walk up behind somebody and stick the nut on them. That's obviously what coaching at sevco does to people.😂😂

For the statto's out there, in the 5 games we have played in March we haven't scored 1 goal in the first half of any of those games. All 7 goals have come in the second half (5 against Peterhead and 2 against Ayr). 3 games we didn't score at all (Pars, QoS and Kelty). We've won 2, lost 2 and drawn 1. Three of those 5 games were at home, and 3 games were against teams in the bottom half of the league. Our form will need to take a significant uptick if we are to get through the play offs, we'll certainly need to get out the blocks quicker in games.

Hopefully just a form blip or is it the curse of manager of the month!?
