The budget was supplemented in January when the Patrons joined the board to allow Rennie to sign Griffiths, Kabia and everyone else that came in at that time. It was slightly offset by the departure of Keena, Hall and McDaid going back to Dundee but nevertheless the budget was increased. The budget was further increased at the start of this season as admitted to by the current board (listen to the podcast where they say as much). You’re wrong, the overall playing budget this season is the same as it was last season. That came directly from two of the directors at one of the meet the fans events held in the south stand where I asked the question. The numbers will all be in the accounts when published anyway along with the near 800k loss ran up in the previous year! That loss is on course to be halved in the current year under the new BOD. Shodwall cat
As far as I was aware the budget was the same as last season and was then increased by 150k that was on the proviso that players were moved out to balance the budget but that never happened.
Zbairn
interestingly, just found out recently that the playing budget is not just players wages. It also accounts for required ancillary staff (physio etc) and stuff like the players gps system, boots, training items etc....... Think SC is right in that the players budget was originally supposed to be the same as last season, but increased by 150k to allow McGlynn to bring in some players that might actually make a competitive football team. One of the biggest drains on the budget is Holts stupidity in offering long term contracts to players who should be in the Lowland League and we can't get rid of at present.

That certainly wasn’t my understanding based on the Falkirk Daft podcast. I thought the directors were pretty clear that the playing budget was originally the same as last year but 60% of it was already taken up by last year’s dross. That then meant that extra funds were provided to allow Mcglynn to bring in more of his own players.

Bairnardo
This is more great content to fill 2 weeks off of league business.... On one hand, a poster sharing information which was given to them by club directors at a meet the fans event, and on the opposite side of the debating stage we have someone else rebutting with "naw ye didnae"

What indefensible is your agenda, your ignorance of the facts. Or both. Edited December 8, 2022 by Brockvillenomore

There has hardly been a season when the club did not run at a loss, simply saved by getting cash from transfers,”sell ons” or cup runs. I think it’s fair to say that our current predicament was not helped by previous Boards shelving The Academy or by gross incompetence in having to pay compensation and fines with respect to managerial appointments. Allowing Holt a free hand in squandering what little available cash we did have in giving out long term contracts to scouts and useless players who are still at the club, draining valuable cash resources was also scandalous. Although the club is not in the greatest of shapes, the current BoD indicated a wish to accrue £500k to give them a buffer/surplus to run into next season. £400k to break even. From what I heard this has almost been achieved through new investment by Patrons, new incentives from the Commercial Team and a slightly higher gate than budgeted. Your comment about “the future of the club at stake” is a total nonsense. As BPM previously mentioned, it just is not going to happen.

FFC 1876
Given how much Dundee had us on toast the last game I'd be tempted to change it up tonight and go 4-4-2, give their 5 at the back more to think about.
