The Falkirk FC Thread

Holy shit this is tough going. Folk losing their shit over us getting a very winnable cup draw followed by them losing their shit over the club launching an initiative to try and fill a well document £400k hole in the finances.

How does flogging a ten year season ticket fill any of that hole in the finances? Have your mob been using Barcelona's accountants?

The one disadvantage I do see is that you’ll potentially be losing near enough £10k a season in future revenue unless whoever buys these tickets chooses to buy a season as normal on top. Not hugely material though in the grand scheme of things.

£7500 loss if prices were kept at this season price (based on £300 for early bird sales).
Not a lot in the great scheme of things if it helps get our club out of an immediate hole in finances, with potentially £125k in additional revenue coming in.

You can’t imagine prices will be kept the same for 10 years though, so the loss will be greater in future seasons.

Agree……but that’s probably why, with the add ins, it’s a good deal for those that actually buy a main stand ticket and a car parking ticket. I think the car park alone is £80 a season.

It’s a product that helps the club with immediate help. In the great scheme of things with around 2000 season tickets sold, it doesn’t really eat much into future finances, which we all hope will be better in years to come.

25 tickets sold at £5k = £125k. £400k - £125k = £275k left to fill. Don't need an accounting degree for that. 😊

If you can’t work out how an immediate cash injection of £125k might help then it’s probably best you don’t worry about it 🤯.

Cheers for trying tho.

Didn't someone say days ago that 14 of these 10 year tickets had already been requested? So there must be an appetite. I get that it's a cost of living crisis but these kind of tickets are obviously not meant for those that are most affected by it, and are more for the people who can spend £5k with or without a cost of living crisis. So I don't really see the issue.

I guess the only downside could be it highlights the desperation as other clubs only offered these immediately before administration.... But the club has been very clear about the financial difficulties for months so it's not new information and just brings extra money we wouldn't otherwise get.

Except that you then have nine subsequent years without any season ticket income from those 25 gullible morons.

So the actual change to the hole in your finances is precisely zero - all you have done is adjusted cashflow, while at the same time adding some unsecured creditors (hence 'gullible morons') through 2033.

There's a reason why other Scottish football clubs are not lowering themselves to this Angelo Massone-esque exercise in book-cooking.

I mean if you can't see the benefit of £125k cash injection in a financial emergency for the cost of losing a meagre £7500 per year in a multimillion £ budget then I would maybe leave the finances to other people.

You have also said they have adjusted cashflow as if that is some kind of insult and not the literal goal of the initiative???

Wow. 9 years with 25 less season ticket holders. Compared to an immediate potential injection of over 100k. What a disaster.

25 less season ticket holders would be an issue if we sold a few hundred season tickets a year.  We sell thousands mate.

Thanks for playing, swing and a miss, etc etc.

And this financial emergency will automatically be solved... when exactly? When pesky seaside league outfits stop having the temerity to defend against you or you stop shipping 3 goals to Clyde?

Doesn't seem like the sure thing to bet ten years' of future revenue on, but then I'm not a gullible moron and so don't support Falkirk FC.

Oh and if you think that a scheme that will generate £125k now will only cost £7,500 per year in lost revenue over ten years, then you should go back and sit National 5 Maths. Then you can perhaps move on to the basic accounting principles that you also completely failed to understand.

So many thousands of season tickets sold and yet here you are,  facing a "financial emergency" and trying to flog utterly tragic IOUs to your own gormless fans to keep the lights on.

Swing and a miss indeed.

Read about a quarter of this but it’s a green dot for getting the many thousands of Falkirk fans seething. Well done you.

It’s another way of taking out a loan which clubs do all the time. Unfortunately we don’t have many who can lend the club £400k so the club have to get creative with how they can plug the gap. It is a short term fix no doubt but like any loan it’s required to secure the future of the club.

What would your solution be instead to help the club plug the £400k hole?

Edited to add: Oh wait you’re a Morton fan!
